Rural Health Care & Jigger Prevention

Dr. Mohsin and Sister Fauzia Jaffer of the Mohsin and Fauzia Jaffer Foundation (Miami, Florida. USA) this week visited Kichaka Primary School in Shimoni, Mombasa where they donated footwear to all the students at the school. This was in response to their concern when they learnt of the Jigger infection in the area from the report of the Jaffery Mobile Clinic. The Mobile Clinic was the idea of Dr. Jaffer who saw the need to reach out to those less fortunate in the rural areas of the coast province and provide them with basic healthcare as well as health education.

Solidarity Walk at Arusha Organized by Kilimeru Sports of Arusha

Sunday the 7th July 2013 was a cold day but the 49 participants, young and old braved the cold weather of Arusha, simply out of love and devotion towards the noble cause of participating in the AFED Solidarity Day Charity Walk, also this was the first of its kind in the history of the Arusha Jamaat, and it is always a privilege to be counted as the pioneers.

Transport was available from the mosque to the Jaffery Academy, which was the starting point of the Walk. The start was scheduled for 10 AM the Walk started at 10.30 AM, the Resident Maulana recited Dua before the start for the success of the 3.8 km Walk.

Tribute to Shaheed Prof Sibte Jaffer Zaidi held at KSIJ, Kinshasa, DRC

The Khoja Shia Isna Asheri Jamaat of Kinshasa, Congo held a Tribute in memory of Shaheed Prof Sibte Jaffer who was shot in Pakistan on March 18, 2013.  The targeted attacks against minority Shias have become a routine and tragic affair in Pakistan for the last 15-20 years. Sadly, the frequency has increased and operations have become more organized in the last 3-4 years, be it in the tribal belt of Hangu, the Western valley of Quetta or the Southern Port city of Karachi.

Ustaad Sibte Jaffar, as he was popularly known among poet lovers as well as among the thousands of students world-wide, was the Principal of a Government College in Karachi.  On his way back home from College riding his old 70cc motorbike, he was shot at a close range by the waiting terrorists; Ustaad was 55 years of age. He left behind a widow and 3 children.
