The 4th World Federation and Africa Federation
4 Days Leadership Development Programme
in Arusha, Tanzania attracts 27 Participants
27 people from around Dar es Salaam, Arusha and Nairobi were among those selected to attend the 4th LDP in Africa in Arusha, Tanzania from 13th to 16th October 2011. Anxiety grips participants before coming into this program, however it is always pleasing to see within no time they find themselves fully engaged and eager to be part of the team, this is the phenomenon of the program which brings together the people from different walks of life and backgrounds on a common platform – “Sharing and Caring as commented by one participant”
The AFED Nominated Counsellor, Alhaj Amir Somji who represented AFED at the Closing Session of the LDP, he referred this program as a stepping stone to the Leadership Leader, he encouraged the participants to play active role in their respective Jamaats and should consider taking up leadership roles, and make a difference.
After the past successful 3 Leadership Development Programs which were held in Nairobi, Dar es Salaam and Mombasa, this 4th Program attracted many applications, however the number of attendance is restricted to 25. This is the World Federation and Africa Federation jointly established Program for Africa. Arusha Jamaat hosted the Program, sponsored by AFED and supported by some well wishers. The Program was conducted by facilitators; head of LDP from World Federation, Dr Akber Mohammedali and Br. Yasin Rahim and supported by Dr. Rizwan Alidina and public speaking and role play expert Ms. Maria Pattinson from the UK, they were assisted by the AFED LDP Coordinator, Br. Sameer Kermalli,
The LDP is a grueling 3 ½ days program where the participants are subjected to long hours of brainstorming, critical and open thinking, challenge processes etc. to withstand the consequences of daily life challenges in realizing that they are the leaders of today and tomorrow, just that they need to step into their powers with necessary leadership tools.

TESTIMONIAL
This line really brought the Potential out of me “Vision with Action has the power to change the world.” I have now realized, that VISION was always integrated in us from Birth, its only the Matter of Defining it, and through LDP I am now reflecting on my VISION. On My 30th Birthday on 19th Oct 2011, I thank Allah (swt) for Making LDP the means of my Change; LDP has given me a gift that is priceless. The Gift of Self Awareness. I now enter my 30’s with enough confidence that would change my life and all around me. Happy Birthday to myself and in rejuvenating of my inner potentials.
I would like to take this opportunity, to Thank Dr. Akber Mohammedali, Br. Yasin Rahim, Dr. Rizwan Alidina, Br. Sameer Kermalli and Ms. Maria for Polishing Diamonds wherever they go, and polishing me on the 4th LDP in Arusha. – Shakir Kassam
This leadership program has provided the opportunity for reflection and personal development based on reality i.e. how I actually perform as a leader on a day to day basis. The self-evaluation questionnaires have enabled me to identify how the theory and management models have been transferred into the style and leadership skills that I demonstrate with colleagues. The session, provides an opportunity to take a step back from day to day practice and openly discuss thoughts, concepts and realities, some of which challenge inner feelings in a “safe environment”. Having identified areas for further development, working with Akber Uncle, Yasin Bhai, Sameer, Rizwan and Maria has enabled me to identify not only my strengths but also areas that I can develop further. I have a personal development plan that provides achievable objectives and tangible measures which I can use to measure my progress. – Zahra Taki
“Personally, the LDP program was an amazing experience in terms of knowledge gained and self – discovery. I met beautiful people along the way and looking forward to the new “ME”. Ahsante sana!” – Shama Dewji
Self Character Building was what impressed me the most in the LDP. To understand the other person and respect him/her despite the differences in views/opinions/actions is what I intend to do Inshallah. Thank you for a reawakening. – Azra Sheriff
LDP has been an eye-opener, both for my inner self and outer personality. Learning to recognize the strengths and less dominant characters of both myself and others has been awesome. I have now realized that I cannot celebrate another human being unless I celebrate myself, and in that recognize to effectively manage myself and my vision community. Heartiest Thanks to all the facilitators to make this possible. Warmest Regards,-Shamma Shakir Bandali
The LDP program has not only helped me discover my inner-self but also taught me to appreciate people around me. The public speaking activity that I engaged in helped me in learning the different techniques of facing the audience. I would like to thank all the facilitators for considering me their diamond and polishing me to face the world with a vision. – Minaz Walji
LDP has given me the unknown knowledge of my inner self, I believe I can now trust myself even more to be able to handle any scenario (both professionally and personally) and it has given me the insight to read people better and thus make the ideal / correct decisions. LDP has changed my life. I salute the facilitators who have immeasurable wealth of knowledge and a great thanks to them.- Shakir Bandali
I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to participate in the Leadership Development Program in Arusha. LDP initiated a great impact on me and i have no words to express as to how much I have learnt in these past 4 days. I pray to Allah (swt) to grant me the power and strength to apply and put into practice all that i have learnt, in serving my community to the best of my abilities insha’allah. To the LDP facilitators I say – A very BIG thank you once again! – Mehdiya Shakeel Sheriff.
With the success of this program and also the testimonials of the participants, it goes to show that in this day in age, the change that needs to come in leaders has to happen one leader at a time. God willing the next program is intended for Kampala, to give a chance to the Uganda Jamaats, Northwest Tanzanian Jamaats and also Kenya Jamaat that would be closer to Kampala.
Africa Federation wishes to express its profound appreciation to the Facilitators of the LDP for the time and trouble they took to prepare, travel and deliver the 4 Days’ LDP in Arusha. We also wish to put on record the hard work and efforts put by Br. Murtaza Versi and Br. Sameer Kermally, the LDP Africa Coordinators.
We also wish to thank the host Jamaat – KSI Jamaat of Arusha, the Convenor of the LDP, Br. Shakir Bandali and his Committee Members and the Volunteers. We also wish to thank the well-wishers and the sponsorers for their continued support and cooperation.
Finally our sincere thanks to the World Federation for being a good partner with the Africa Federation for this project. Insha’allah more such Programs to come.
