Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya:
The Chairman of the Federation of the Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri Jamaats of Africa, Alhaj Anwarali Dharamsi accompanied by the Vice Chairman, Shabir Najafi, the Hon. Secretary, Aunali Khalfan and the Hon. Treasurer, Mohamed Hemani met with the Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya Chairman, Alhaj Abbas H. M. Nasser, Managing Committee Members and Trustees of BMMK on Saturday, 29th September in Mombasa during the visit to Mombasa by AFED delegation from 28th to 29th September 2012.
The meeting discussed various issues pertinent to the Mission’s activities and future plans, among these, the management of our Lamu Mosque, Imambargha and Madressah and carrying out the Tableegh activities there, AFED will support these initiatives financially.
The AFED Chairman also informed BMMK that they should look into long-term plan of viable investments for income generating ventures so that BMMK could be self-sufficient financially, AFED will make all efforts to support these initiatives and will work together with BMMK to achieve this long term objective.
The Chairman commended BMMK for the wonderful work they do in the field of Tableegh, Training who are also actively pursuing the Economic Empowerment of the local Shia community in Mombasa region. The Chairman of BMMK pointed out that human resources is a big challenge and also they are looking for a suitable candidate to take up the post of a Chief Muballigh for BMMK to strengthen further the Tableegh work and to improve the management of the Centres and Madressahs.
The AFED Chairman and the Office Bearers thanked the Management of BMMK for the support and cooperation they always extend to AFED, and assured them of their full support.
Meeting with the AFED Councillors in Mombasa:
A meeting was held with the AFED Councillors who are based in Mombasa; this has been the practice by AFED Secretariat to involve the Councillors, who have played important roles in assisting AFED in various fronts, such as following up on Higher Education Loan Repayments, especially by the defaulting students. The Councillors also help in the activities like the Eid Flag Day, Solidarity Day, Ramadhan Relief, Housing Projects and other programs.
The Chairman, Alhaj Anwarali Dharamsi expressed his appreciation to the Councillors for their support and dedication in service to Africa Federation and its members.
AFED Secretariat wishes to record its appreciation and gratitude by Alhaj Sultan Molu, AFED Kenyan Trustee and AFED nominated Councillors Alhaj Gulamabbas Khaku and Alhaj Amir Merali, for offering their valuable time to accompany the AFED delegation to meet several community members in Mombasa during the visit.
We wish to thank the BMMK Chairman Alhaj Abbas H. M. Nasser and his Managing Committee Members and BMMK Trustees for the fruitful meeting and warm reception accorded to AFED delegation in Mombasa.
