The Dar es Salaam Jamaat Tableegh Board in collaboration with Tanzania Ithna Asheri Community (T.I.C.) hosted a well-attended Milad-un-Nabi program at the Diamond Jubilee hall in Dar es Salaam on Sunday the 17th February 2013.
The Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAWW) founder of the religion of Islam was born in the year 570 CE (fifty-three years before the Hijrah) in the town of Makkah, a mountain town in the high desert plateau of western Arabia (presently known as Saudi Arabia). His name derives from the Arabic verb Hamada, meaning “to praise, to glorify.” He was the first and only son of Hazrat Abdullah ibn Abd Al-Muttalib and Hazrat Aminah bint Wahab.
Milad-un Nabi (SAWW) popularly known as “Maulidi” – the celebrations marking the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet of Islam, Hazrat Muhammad Al Mustafa Rasulullah (SAWW) falls in the Islamic month of Rabi’ al Awwal. Hundreds of millions of Muslims celebrated the anniversary all over the world. In Tanzania it is celebrated nationwide on 17th Rabi’ al Awwal and is a public holiday.
The Guest of Honour at the program was the former President of the United Republic of Tanzania, His Excellency Alhaj Ali Hassan Mwinyi.
HE Alhaj Ali Hassan Mwinyi in his address stressed the importance of celebrating such events in remembering the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAWW) the great personality who founded and promulgated one of the world’s great religions – Islam.
Among the dignitaries present were the Chairman of Africa Federation, Alhaj Anwarali Dharamsi, the President of KSI Jamaat of Dar es Salaam, Alhaj Shiraz Walji, Chairman of TIC, Retired General Simba Waziri, Alhaj Shakil Dharamsi, Chairman of KSI Jamaat Tableegh Board and other dignitaries from several communities in Dar-es-salaam, Imams of the Mosques, Sheikhs from various local Institutions and Madressahs, Students from Hawzas and members of the public.
The Diamond Jubilee hall was packed with guests, who appreciated the program and listened attentively to the wisdom-laden lectures by Sheikh Murtaza Alidina, Resident Aalim of KSI Jamaat of Dar es Salaam, Sheikh Musa Hadi, the Chief of BAKWATA, Sheikh BaSaleh of Sunni Masjid, and Sheikh Abdulrazak of Tanzania Ithna Asheri Community.
The Master of Ceremonies, Sheikh Mulabbah conducted the program flawlessly and the audiences were spellbound with the feeling of unity amongst their Muslim brothers. Qasidas in praise of the Holy Prophet Muhammad al Mustafa (SAWW) were recited by the Shia and Sunni brothers.
Towards the end of the program various prizes were awarded, which included Laptop, Mini IPAD, Phones, Camera, Microwave and other items. The Jamaat wishes to thank all the contributors of the various gifts.
All the guests were presented with The Holy Qur’an donated by the kind courtesy of Alhaj Anwarali Dharamsi for the benefit of late Dharamsi family and extended relatives.
The President of the Jamaat, Alhaj Shiraz Walji, commended the good initiatives and planning by the Tableegh Board of KSI Jamaat and the Tanzania Ithna Asheri Community (TIC) in the organization of Maulidi Program.
He also thanked the Debating Society of Husseini Madressah and Volunteers for successfully organizing the program, which required a lot of efforts, time and commitment.
The Secretariat of the Federation of KSI Jamaats of Africa applauds the efforts of the Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri Jamaat of Dar es Salaam for organizing this important program of Maulidi and in promoting closer association and cooperation through working together with our Muslim brothers in Tanzania, for the benefit of all Tanzanians.
