BILAL MUSLIM MISSION ORGANIZES FREE EYE CAMP AND HUMANITARIAN SERVICES AT IFAKARA
Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanzania held FREE Eye Camp at Ifakara in Morogoro Region which is about 400 kilometers from Dar es Salaam. The Camp was held from 10th to 14th October 2014 whereby hundreds of people from different nearby villages gather for eye treatment.
3,360 people were screened, 2074 units of medicine were prescribed and 2797 spectacles including 208 sunglasses were given out.
The camp was held at Lipangalala Primary School, Ifakara. The Ophthalmologist Dr. Florance Mwakila diagnosed the cataract patients and surgeries were carried out at Ifaraka Government Hospital. Dr. Njau and his team carried out one hundred and seventy nine (179) cataract surgeries.

Bilal Muslim Mission Free Eye camp paid for the expenses of 18 patients who were promised for surgeries from the previous Nyandeo Camp, held in Kilombero. This is due to the efforts of Nyandeo Primary School Headmistress, Beini Chilimanga, who continuously liaised with Bilal Muslim Mission Eye Camp team and showing great concern for the patients.
We appreciate the support received from the local authorities and the Ifakara Government Hospital.
Besides the free eye camp, many more activities were carried out, such as:
- Distribution of free T-shirts to Teachers.
- Stationeries to students
- second hand clothes donated by Nemat Rajwani
- footballs to Lipangalala Primary School
- Solar lamps (donated by Beta Charitable) to Std VII students
- mosquito-nets donated by ladies of Mombasa for hospitals in Ifakara Regions
- Holy Quran and Juzuu were distributed personally by Mama Keki to 10 mosques
Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanzania wishes express its gratitude to the family of Alhaj Pyarali Shivji of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania for sponsoring the Camp and to Beta Charitable Trust of Essex, U.K for sponsoring the surgeries at the Camp and providing solar lamps to the students.
