Al Muntazir Special Education Needs (AMSEN) holds A World Autism Day Walk Organized by Central Board of Education (CBE) of KSI Jamaat of Dar Es Salaam on 25th March 2018
The Al Muntazir Schools have earned the reputation of constantly evolving and striving for excellence in the provision of quality of education to the children, regardless of age, gender, race or sects. For the past 30 years, the Al Muntazir Schools have spread the light of education to children from the ages of 2.5 to 18 years. Over the years, it has continued to expand and increase the spectrum of education from Nursery, to Primary to Secondary and then to A Levels.
Together with the mainstream education system, the Al Muntazir Schools also strive to ensure education is provided without barriers. This vision led to the establishment of the Al Muntazir Special Education Needs School (AMSEN) that was taken over in 2013, following an agreement reached between the World Federation of KSIMC, The Federation of KSI Jamaats of Africa and KSI Jamaat of Dar Es Salaam.
AMSEN has not only managed, but also trained, educated and supported employment for many of its students who range in the special needs from Autism Spectrum Disorder, Dyslexia, Down syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and more.
One of the major events under the AMSEN is the World Autism Day, celebrated globally on 2nd April. AMSEN takes advantage of this day to create awareness amongst the general public about the children with special needs, especially those with Autism.
The Al Muntazir Special Education Needs School, together with other Al Muntazir Schools, organized The 3rd Autism Awareness Walk this year on Sunday 25th March 2018 attended by a large group of people from all walks of life.
The walk was an inspirational and impactful opportunity to raise awareness to help change the future for all those who struggle with autism.
The occasion was graced by Deputy Speaker of Parliament of Tanzania, Dr. Tulia Akson Mwansasu and Deputy Minister of Health, Gender and Social Welfare, Dr. Faustin Ndungulile as the main guests.
The program started at the Al Muntazir Boys Primary School with the recitation of some verses from the Holy Qur’an, followed by the National Anthem and Tanzania Song. The CEO of the Al Muntazir Schools, Mr. Mahmood Ladak then welcomed all the participants and officially opened the event.
The walk started from Al Muntazir Boys Primary School on Barack Obama Road to Al Muntazir Girls Primary School, UN Road; where all the dignitaries, together with the general public of over 2000 men, women and children, walked led by students and staff of the Al Muntazir Special Education Needs school and the invited dignitaries.
Also in attendance were several Members of Parliament who came all the way from Dodoma to participate in this walk and were joined by various dignitaries who attended from different government departments and embassies. The Al Muntazir Schools were also proud to have the President, Alhaj Azimbhai Dewji and officials of KSI Jamaat of Dar Es Salaam, Central Education Board Chairman and Members of the Board and Al Muntazir Schools, officials from the World Federation and Africa Federation including the Vice Chairman of Africa Federation Alhaj Aunalibhai Khalfan gracing the occasion and walking with the public.
After the walk, participants gathered at the end point which was at Al Muntazir Girls Primary School. The closing program started with Ngonjera performed by the students of Al Muntazir Schools, including children from the Al Muntazir Special Education Needs.
The KSIJ CBE Chairman Mr. Imtiaz Lalji in his speech gave an introduction of the Al Muntazir Special Education Needs School (AMSEN) and talked about the achievements in the last 5 years since it was initiated, including participation of the AMSEN students in the Special Olympics held in Zanzibar and the Global Forum where AMSEN was represented in Australia. He also urged the government representatives present and the general public to keep supporting the AMSEN school and invited them to visit AMSEN and see for themselves the progress done on the children.
The Speech by Chairman was followed by the address from the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Tanzania, Dr. Tulia Akson Mwansasu, which was followed by a short address from Deputy Minister of Health, Gender and Social Welfare, Dr. Faustin Ndungulile emphasizing the importance of protecting, caring and loving the wonderful children with special needs.
Both the speakers congratulated KSI Jamaat, CBE and Al Muntazir Schools for organizing such a great event and pledged their support for the Centre and assured the public that they will do everything in their capacity to spread a good word to all the relevant institutions who can support the cause. They also emphasized the importance for the general public to be aware of the children with special needs and asked the parents of these special children not to hide them but to bring them to AMSEN so that their lives could be improved.
The Master of Ceremony (MC) of the day, Br. Mushtaq Damji then led the audience to the Auction segment, a good amount was raised by different well-wishers through the auction items made by the students at AMSEN.
Good amounts of pledges were made by different individuals as well as official bodies, for the benefit of the Special Needs children.
The President of the KSIJ Dar es Salaam Jamaat Alhaj Azimbhai Dewji gave the vote of thanks and appreciated the presence of all the dignitaries especially invited dignitaries from the Government, the World Federation, Africa Federation, the KSI Jamaat members, CBE officials. Al Muntazir Schools and AMSEN officials, teachers, staff and students.
