The Africa Federation (AFED) in collaboration with the KSI Jamaat of Dar es Salaam unveiled a second Rent-to-Own housing scheme in Dar es Salaam – Amira Apartments. The Scheme is for resident members of Dar-es-Salaam Jamaat on a Rent to Own scheme providing a 12 years’ plan and “Direct Sale” scheme which is based on a 12 months’ plan. The first similar scheme was Al Asghery Residency on Band/Libya Street, Dar-es-Salaam.
The Project located on Plot No 868, Mfaume Street in Upanga area of Dar-es-Salaam city will be a 13 storey building consisting of 40 Apartments, and will comprise of good standard with modern amenities consisting of 20 Four (4) Bedroom Apartments and 20 Three (3) Bedroom Apartments, and car park facilities.
The Project was officially launched on 12th January 2019 coinciding with the auspicious Wiladat of Lady Zainab (S.A.) at the KSIJ Dar-es-Salaam Imambargha attended by the Africa Federation Chairman Alhaj Shabir bhai Najafi, President of KSIJ Dar es Salaam Alhaj Azim bhai Dewji, Office Bearers and the Economic and Housing Development Board Chairman, Alhaj Akil Hirji and large number of our Community members.
Alhaj Murtaza Lalji the Honorary Secretary of Dar es Salaam Jamaat welcomed the AFED Chairman and prayed for the success of the Project which will benefit members of the Dar-es-Salaam Jamaat.
Alhaj Azim Dewji President of Dar-es-Salaam Jamaat in his address appreciated the Africa Federation initiatives for providing such opportunities for the members of the Jamaat, he emphasised that the Scheme shall be beneficial for the middle-income earners, who are first time buyers needing decent homes. He informed the Community that the Uhuru Street Housing Project, a joint project of Dar-es-Salaam Jamaat in collaboration with the World Federation and Africa Federation is another housing joint project in Dar-es-Salaam will be commencing soon.
AFED Chairman, Shabir bhai Najafi in his address emphasised on the importance of families owning homes and said the scheme of “Rent to Own” is a unique scheme which has been adopted by Africa Federation and is unique model adored by some other Khoja Jamaats. He called upon Dar-es-Salaam members to take this rare opportunity of becoming home owners which secures a family’s future.
AFED Chairman assured members that the Uhuru Street Housing Project of Dar-es-Salaam Jamaat will also take off soon following the completion of the administrative work and documentations which is being handled by the AFED Housing Board.
Alhaj Shabir Najafi pointed out that such projects require substantial financial commitment and he appealed to the members of Dar-es-Salaam Jamaat to help for funds and support such projects which are for the benefit of the members of our own Jamaats locally, he reiterated that members should look into the needs within before looking outside.
AFED Chairman also spoke about the AFED Foundation Fund that the Secretariat intends to establish, the proposal for this scheme will be tabled at the forthcoming AFED Conference to be held in April 2019 in Mombasa, Kenya.
He called upon the Community to come forward and support these projects by contributing towards the Foundation Fund so that members of the Community of our Jamaats in Africa where there is a need of housing facilities benefit from such type of schemes.
Alhaj Shabir bhai thanked Alhaj Ahmed bhai Daya of U.K. for his ardent support towards the Africa Federation Housing Projects. A man with a passion and prudence, Ahmed bhai’s commitment towards the Amira Apartments project is greatly appreciated. Similarly, the AFED Housing Development Board’s dedication, resources and the member’s synergies they put into various housing projects are noteworthy and very much appreciated.
The construction work of Amira Apartments is progressing as per schedule and the project is expected to complete as planned. Members needing more information are requested to collect a detailed brochure from the AFED or Jamaat’s Secretariat offices.
Application forms are now available for interested first time home owners to collect from the Jamaat office; the deadline for this is 28th February 2019.
