The Chairman of Africa Federation Alhaj Anwarali Dharamsi accompanied by the Vice Chairman and Chairman Elect Alhaj Shabir Najafi and the Hon Secretary Alhaj Aunali Khalfan made an official visit to Mombasa from Friday 11th to Sunday 13th March 2016.
The AFED delegation was accompanied by the Africa Federation Nominated Councillors in Mombasa Alhaj Amir Merali and Alhaj Gulamabbas Khaku for an official visit on Saturday 12th March 2016 to Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya in Mombasa.
It was a good opportunity for the visit to Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya (BMMK) and meeting with the Managing Committee of BMMK and conversation with the staff.
BMMK Executive Committee was headed by the Chairman Alhaj Abbas Nasser, also present at the meeting was the Vice Chairman Alhaj Shamsher Mawji, Hon Secretary Alhaj Fazleabbas Bhanji, BMMK Trustee, Alhaj Riyaz Fazel, Committee Members, Alhaj Iqbal Sunderji, Alhaj Mohamedhussein Somji and the CEO of BMMK, Alhaj Mujtaba Peera.
Various matters concerning Tabligh activities, finance, operations, economic upliftment of Shia Community families and general administration of the centres were discussed during the meeting including the media and publicity.
The Studio in Bilal building has been recently upgraded, where lectures are recorded and broadcasted on radio to several parts of Kenya, this section becomes more active during the months of Muharram, Safar and the holy month of Ramadhan. Different Scholars and Lecturers are invited to deliver lectures to muballigheens and students of BMMK. AFED Chairman made a contribution for the purchase of the furniture required for the Studio.
BMMK is planning to redevelop the Muheza Creek Mtongwe Centre with modern facilities in the suburb of Mombasa. The Centre shall have the following facilities:-
- Mosque
- Block of Classrooms
- Staff Houses
- Multi-purpose Hall
- Hostel
- Fencing open space for recreation and sports
AFED Secretariat is grateful to Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya for their deep commitment in the development of the Mission of Ahlulbayt (AS).
It was gratifying to observe various Tabligh activities undertaken by BMMK at the centres which are well managed, similarly the support being provided to the local Shia Community in economic upliftment which is monitored closely.
On behalf of the Chairman of Africa Federation and the office bearers, we wish to express our appreciation for the warm welcome extended to AFED delegation on their visit to BMMK.
