SAYYID MUKHTAR (MURTAZA) SAYYID SAEED AKHTAR RIZVI
1966 – 2016
It is with profound sorrow and grief that Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanzania conveys the sad news of the demise of Sayyid Mukhtar (Murtaza) Sayyid Saeed Akhtar Rizvi which occurred in Dar es Salaam on Sunday, 1st May 2016 (23rd Rajab 1437 A.H.), he was buried on Monday, 2nd May 2016.
Marhum famously known as Sayyid Murtaza was the youngest son of Hujjatul Islam Marhum Allamah Sayyid Saeed Akhtar Rizvi (R.A.) – the founder of the Shia Tabligh institute – The Bilal Muslim Mission. Marhum was the younger brother of renowned scholar and resident Aalim of Toronto Jamaat, Hujjatul Islam Sayyid Mohamed Rizvi.
After completing his religious studies in Hawza Jawadiyya in Banaras, India, Marhum joined Bilal Muslim Mission in 1987 and worked with great devotion and consistency in the Bilal Administration office in Dar es Salaam. He was a good support to his late father whose vision was to develop a vibrant and progressive Tabligh institute to cater for the indigenous African population, he was instrumental and a pioneer in the formation of Bilal Muslim Mission which was founded in Tanzania in 1968 whose aim and objective is to propagate the religion of Islam and the Madha’ab of Ahlulbayt (AS) in Africa.
By the Grace and Blessings of Allah (SWT), Bilal Muslim Mission in Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda and in other parts of Africa have made significant strides in the Missions’ development since its formation and continues to expand.
In 2006, in the midst of his services during his visit in Iran, Sayyid Murtaza had an accident which left him confined to a wheel-chair. After undergoing medical treatment, placing the Bilal Mission activities before his own wellbeing, he insisted upon continuing the work in the Mission. He fought against all odds and spent the days working before a massive stroke struck him whilst in service, sadly after several bouts of strokes; he was paralyzed and thus from 2008 he was unable to continue in his work.
Marhum is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter who is married. The elder son, Sayyid Kadhim Rizvi is presently taking higher religious studies in Qum, Iran.
The Chairman of Africa Federation, Alhaj Shabir Najafi in his condolence message to Hujjatul Islam Sayyid Mohammad Rizvi expressed his and the office bearers deep sorrow on the sad demise of his brother, Sayyid Mukhtar (Murtaza) Rizvi and conveyed heartfelt condolences to the family members.
Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanzania conveys its heartfelt condolences to all the family members of the Late Marhum Sayyid Saeed Akhtar Rizvi and the Bilal Community.
May Allah (SWT) by His infinite Grace and Mercy grant Marhum Maghferat and place his soul in the proximity of our Aeema-e-Tahireen (AS).
Please let us remember Marhum Sayyid Mukhtar (Murtaza) Saeed Akhtar Rizvi and all the Marhumeen with Sura-e-Fateha.
