The Chairman of the Federation of Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri Jamaats of Africa, Alhaj Shabir Najafi is pleased to appoint Mrs. Saida Sajjad Rashid of Mombasa, Kenya to the post of Chairperson of the Africa Federation Women Board for the term 2019 – 2022.
Brief Profile
Saida Bai is an active social worker and experienced in team leadership, event organization and mentorship. She has been involved in several events for women in Mombasa Jamaat.
She has participated in several Conferences & Supreme Council Sessions and supports women’s roles in the development. She takes keen interest in the welfare services for the underprivileged people in the local society.
Saida bai is one of the Mediators of the AFED Marital Mediation team. She has also undertaken various training programs organized by the World Federation which include the Neuro-Psychology of Learning from Madrasah Centre of Excellence, Certificate of Attendance from The World Federation – Leadership Development Programme and Certificate of Participation from Women’s Needs Assessment Programme.
After completing her secondary education in 1984, she pursued Diploma course for one year in Dressmaking. Saida bai has been involved in the family businesses since 1986 and from 1999 she became one of the Directors of Milly Fruits Processors Ltd.

The goals of the team for the term are:
1. To improve the quality of societal wellbeing through:
- Hosting regular health programs on different themes and bringing awareness through participation especially during festivals, events e.g. the sports festival, Khushalis etc.
- Creating awareness, educating and providing services on mental health. This would include establishing help lines and access to professional assistance;
- Building the success of marriage and family relationships. This would include introducing pre-marital couple/individual sessions in collaboration with CBG of AFED, access to marital counselling facilities and family workshops/seminars.
2. To create an effective communication platform involving Member Jamaats of AFED, with collaboration of other Boards of AFED.
3. To organize women’s programs and events throughout the year involving Member Jamaats of AFED through the Women’s Board Representatives in the Jamaats.
The AFED Secretariat extends its heartiest congratulations to Saida bai and her entire team on their appointments and wishes them every success in achieving the goals set out by the Board for the term 2019 – 2022.
