MENTOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
Mentoring a choice? or most vital tool for development!
A thriving, impactful mentoring program doesn’t just happen; it is built through thoughtful planning and sustained commitment. Mentoring is one tool that lays foundation for success to any community. Belief in the mind that has a question, has the answer. This enables mentor to support mentee without being prescriptive.
CBG Mentor Development Programme is an initiative to empower and increase alumni engagement when tapping alumni as mentors within the community for its betterment. Mentor Development Programme is an increasingly popular development tool; undertaken effectively, mentoring can be highly effective in enhancing an individual’s skills, knowledge and performance.
The Mentor training workshop is based on the Egan’s Skilled Helper Model mutually benefits both the mentors and mentees to overcome challenges, explore problem issues, seek new opportunities and establish goals. Basically, be active interpreters of the world, giving meanings to actions, events and situations and develop under-used or unused resources as opportunities more fully.
With this approach, we can cause ripple effect in the community leading to healthy non-judgmental supportive community with specific problem-solving skills for various challenges and not working on one size fit all model. The participants with ample opportunities to practice the skills acquired under supervision, will further undergo evaluation after which they will serve in various jamaats.
The AFED Capacity Building Group (CBG) wish to accord their utmost gratitude and appreciation to the President, Managing Committee and volunteers of Arusha Jamaat for their time, energy and resources in hosting and organizing the Mentor Development Program.
We also extend our appreciation to the Africa Federation Office Bearers and Secretariat for their steadfast support and guidance. Our deep appreciation also goes to each and every participant who took time off from their busy schedules to further their personal and future development. However, with every opportunity comes equal or greater responsibility. Mentoring is about firm commitment to the role once taken on and we hope you will give it your utmost best.
