The first joint meeting between Africa Federation office bearers and the newly elected office bearers and managing committee members of KSI Jamaat of Dar-es-Salaam was held on Sunday 4th October 2020 in Dar-es-Salaam at the Jamaat conference room.
Africa Federation team was led by the Chairman, Alhaj Shabir Najafi who was accompanied by the Vice Chairman, Alhaj Aunali Khalfan, the Hon Secretary Alhaj Zuhair Jaffer, the Hon Treasurer, Alhaj Zainul Chandoo and the Chief Operating Officer, Br. Hasnain Sherally.
The Dar es Salaam Jamaat team was led by the President, Alhaj Mohamedraza Dewji, also present at the meeting was the Vice President, Alhaj Abdulrasul Shamji, the Hon Secretary, Alhaj Zulfikar Chandoo and the Managing Committee members; Alhaj Abbasali Hirji, Alhaj Arif Dhirani, Alhaj Hassan Dewji, Alhaj Murtaza Lalji and Alhaj Sajjad Moledina, the General Manager in the Jamaat Secretariat.
The meeting covered wide range of issues pertaining to AFED and the Jamaat activities, the envisioned plans for the future with the aim to create opportunities for the betterment of our Community and for the successive generations.
In his opening remarks, AFED Chairman explained that the Jamaats under AFED have crucial roles to play in the affairs of the Community, they being the arms of Africa Federation, the roles include but not limited to the religion, education, social services, economic development, women, youth and the society in general. He further stated that the Covid-19 pandemic has caused multitude of challenges globally including Africa. The unprecedented pandemic has opened a new era in our lives, requiring for greater coordination, fostering unity and good governance within our institutions that will help to combat the challenges of the present times and in the future.
The economic hardships will even get worst before we can see the brighter side of things, he stressed that all Jamaats should appraise their strategies towards income generating projects whereby present assets of the Jamaats are redeveloped with renewed focus to increase steady income to support the various activities of the Jamaats and their developments.
He congratulated Dar es Salaam Jamaat for their achievements in several sectors including the social services and the Covid-19 emergency response team whose commendable services were echoed by many within the Community and others.
Dar es Salaam Jamaat membership population presently is the biggest amongst all the KSI Jamaats under AFED in Africa, Alhaj Shabir bhai has expressed his sentiments to Alhaj Mohamedraza bhai Dewji for greater participation in AFED’s activities and support so that other smaller Jamaats can also benefit, in areas such as education and health.
Addressing the economic challenges, the President of Dar es Salaam Jamaat explained the Jamaat’s plans, includes developing a good standard health facility, housing and recreation facilities which will also include a Multipurpose Building at the Boarding House to cater for all members – women, men, youth and children of our Community. He said the new team are keen to pursue strategies towards development and progress. Alhaj Mohamedraza acknowledged the importance of working together and also assured AFED of Jamaat’s support in its endeavors, similarly he asked for AFED’s support.
Alhaj Mohamedraza bhai thanked the World Federation and Africa Federation for their timely support towards the Covid-19 financial support for the affected members and also for Ebrahim Haji Charitable Health Centre special wing development.
The meeting also looked into other areas of cooperation, especially in higher education loan matters and economic upliftment which requires more attention to bring them into alignment and fruition. The worsening economic conditions respects no borders; hence our Community members will face these challenges for foreseeable future.
Alhaj Shabir bhai thanked the Dar es Salaam Jamaat President, the office bearers and managing committee members for a fruitful and constructive meeting and stressed the need to meet on a regular basis.
AFED Chairman and the office bearers expressed their appreciation to the immediate past office bearers and managing committee members for their cooperation and support and wished them all good health, long life and prosperity.
AFED Secretariat wishes the newly elected office bearers and managing committee of Dar-es-Salaam Jamaat a successful term in office and we pray to Allah (SWT) to grant them good health and more tawfeeqat with inspiration to continue with their noble duties for the pleasure of Allah (SWT), Ameen.
