On this auspicious occasion of Eid-e-Zahra (SA), we are pleased to inform our community members that with the grace of the Almighty (SWT), the AFED Housing Project situated at Mfaume Street, Upanga in Dar es Salaam is nearing completion, ahead of the scheduled time. The plot was handed over to the main contractor on 10th August 2018 and the tentative handover date to the buyers was June 2021, we are pleased that the buyers will be able to shift to their new homes earlier than anticipated.
With the support from Alhaj Shabir bhai Najafi the Chairman and the Office Bearers of Africa Federation, the Contractor, Consultants, Surveyors and the Housing Development Board Members led by Akil bhai Hirji, we are pleased that the project is now expected to be completed in December 2020, almost 6 months ahead of time.
The buyers who are our community members will have an opportunity to view their apartments once we complete the formalities like the inspection by the authorities, the certificate of occupation etc., and formal handover by the Contractor. The buyers will be informed accordingly.
On 4th October 2020 the Africa Federation, Chairman Alhaj Shabir bhai Najafi, Vice Chairman Alhaj Aunali bhai Khalfan and Secretary Alhaj Zuhair bhai Jaffer visited the site accompanied by Housing Board Members led by the Chairman Akil bhai Hirji. The Office Bearers commended the timely progress of the project despite the challenges endured due to the pandemic. The visitors were impressed with the finishing of works and quality.
The project progress is encouraging with 80% of works completed including external works.
The success of any project depends much upon good teamwork amongst the stakeholders and regular site visits and technical meetings. It was agreed by the contractor and the sub-contractors during the site meetings held on the 12th and 19th October 2020 that the completion of the project shall be prior to the earlier timeframe for the handing over of the project.
Office Bearers meeting with Housing Development Board:
On 1st October 2020, the AFED Office Bearers and Housing Development Board had a fruitful meeting covering various AFED projects, AFED properties and future planning. The Housing Board also informed the Office Bearers on the upgrades of facilities in Amira Apartments such as Multipurpose Hall with fully equipped PA and Multimedia system which shall also be made available to the buyers. Similarly, a full-fledged terrace for the residents of the building, Gym area for gents and ladies and also the halls can be used for majalises and other religious programmes and family functions.
Additionally, the Housing Board also proposed to the Office Bearers that a special Water Treatment Plant be installed in the building. This will reduce the impurities from the water supply, the treated water will be drinkable and supplied to each and every apartment water outlet, the stain effect will be reduced on the sanitaryware and tiles. The initial cost of the plant and installation is high, but will reduce the expenses in future for the apartments occupants as this will reduce the wear & tear, which will benefit the buyers in several ways.
The Housing Board always looks into different ways of upgrading the facilities and reducing the running costs wherever possible. The extra costs incurred for these additional upgrading of the clean water system by installing the WTP will not be passed to the buyers.
KSIJ Dar-es-Salaam President Alhaj Mohamedraza bhai Dewji visits Amira Project :
On 8th October 2020 afternoon, AFED Chairman Alhaj Shabir bhai Najafi, AFED Housing Board Chairman Alhaj Akil bhai Hirji hosted the visit to Amira Apartments project by the Dar es Salaam Jamaat President Alhaj Mohamedraza bhai Dewji.
The KSIJ DSM President was impressed with the quality and the speed of the project and stated that the facilities have come out nicely, especially the terrace layout are impressive.
The Housing Board Chairman, thanked the AFED Chairman and the Dar-es-Salaam Jamaat President for visiting the project and for their kind and encouraging words. Akil bhai stated that in all our projects, there is no compromise in quality. The supervision is done very closely by his team to ensure compliance to the agreed standards of workmanship and materials including the finishing works yielding the required results of the project.
Alhamdullilah, all these has been made possible due to the support from the AFED Chairman, Office Bearers, Housing Board Team members and support from Ahmed bhai Daya of UK who also played a pivotal role in this project.
