CAREER ROUNDTABLE – VOCATIONAL COURSES
One of the main focus areas of the AF Education Board for the term 2019 -2022 is to engage with students within the community and to provide them support and information to make informed decisions. This has become even more important as students and parents undergoing uncertain times. AF Education board had in June 2020 introduced the thus “Career Roundtable” series which are broadcasted LIVE on the Africa Federation YouTube Channel and Facebook page.
On 5th December, Education Board held its 3rd Webinar in that series “VOCATIONAL COURSES”. This was aimed to reach out to youths who wish to look into alternative career paths that have proved to be equally lucrative. A set of panelists who are currently studying in the different fields of vocational courses – Sister Nargis Yusufali, Sister Zahra Moledina, Brother Abbas Virjee and Brother Mohammed Taki Okera – touched on different aspects of their career-path and brought on the table their experience from application to the challenges they have faced. They also shed light on what their courses entailed and how they faced the challenges including the current COVID – 19.
The session was moderated by Sister Sabira Sadak who is a fashion designer by profession and an experienced TSP facilitator and the Hon. Secretary of Africa Federation Women’s Board.
AF Education Board would like to thank all the 4 panelists and the moderator for a very informative and fruitful session. Their discussion engaged several areas of vocational courses and the career paths from there. This enabled youths, parents and educationists to understand what Vocational courses entails.
Similarly, we thank the volunteers for their tireless efforts and support in ensuring the success of the program.
