The Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri Jamaat of Kampala organized Covid-19 Vaccine Drive on Thursday 3rd June 2021 where a total of 243 people received the Vaccine Jab. The drive was also open to our Bilal brethren and members of other Asian Communities. Sizeable number of them had received the first dose through the Government facilities earlier on.
Alhamdulillah, the event was well organized and participants appreciated the arrangements made. The Jamaat will work into having another drive for those who are yet to be vaccinated and for those who are due for their second dose.
The Jamaat Office Bearers recognize the efforts of the Covid-19 Team of Kampala Jamaat, Br. Mahmud bhai Bharwani, Br. Imran Vakil and Br. Qasim Bhimani and for their cooperation and valuable support in accomplishing this important exercise.
The Africa Federation Chairman Shabir bhai Najafi visited the Centre during the exercise. He commended Kampala Jamaat President Alhaj Sibtain bhai Merchant and his committee for this important service which catered not just for our community and Bilal but other communities including the neighbours of our complex. Reaching out to other communities is characteristic of our Jamaats. He also thanked Alhaj Mahmud bhai Bharwani for facilitating the exercise and coordinating with the health ministry. 90% of Jamaat members have been vaccinated to date. The Chairman urged all those who have not had the vaccine to come forward soonest possible and continue with precautions like wearing of face masks even after being vaccinated.
With the new wave of the Pandemic emerging in Uganda, the situation is worrisome and therefore more vigilance is required by the Community members to exercise necessary precautions to safeguard themselves and others against the Covid-19 virus in following strictly the precautionary protocols as advised by the AFED Central Health Board (CHB) in their circulars in past few months.
It is heartening to see Kampala Jamaat and the Covid-19 team of the Jamaat in the forefront proactively involved in assisting our Community members and others in situations such as we are currently experiencing where utmost focus is required.
Below are some photographs taken during the exercise.
We request all Community members to keep the people of Uganda in their prayers as they are currently hit by the second wave of the Pandemic and the situation is presently grim.
We pray to the Almighty to grant us a relief from the Pandemic and grant recovery to all those effected by this critical outbreak, Ameen.
