The Bilal Delegation comprising of the Chairman Alhaj Hussein Karim and Tabligh Coordinator Sheikh Msabaha Mapinda visited Tabora, Uvinza and Urambo.
Location: Kigoma is in the Western Tanzania, bordering Burundi. Tabora is in central Tanzania 345km South of Mwanza, 823 km from Dar es salaam and 422 from Kigoma.
Tabora was one of the active Jamaats in Tanzania and had a vibrant Asian community of almost 4000 people during its helm days. An Asian Public school was established which had about 500 students from various communities with studies in Gujarati and English.
Our community had built a modest Husseyniya/Imambargah that was used both as mosque and Hall. Most of the community members moved out between 1970 and by 1980’s with none left since the past two decades. In late 1980 the Mosque was handed over to Bilal Muslim Mission at that time under the patronage of Sayyid Saeed Akhter Rizvi, where a sheikh was posted to run a Qur’an Madressah.
The delegation visited Tabora with an aim to see how tabligh activities can be revived at the Tabora Mosque. Unfortunately, the Mosque is in the bad state and requires urgent repairs in the roofing to prevent further leakages. Works have already started in solving the water problem in the Wudhu area and the replacement of toilets.
On the way to Tabora, the delegation also visited Uvinza where Bilal has a centre run by Alhaj Maqbul bhai Jaffer. The centre initially was at a rented premises but the landlady was not willing to renew the lease. Plans are underway to build a Mosque and small madrasa in the area, the land for which is already available as seen in the below pictures.
