The event of Karbala commemorated by Muslims across the world distinguishes the thirst of justice and morality initiated and fought for by Imam Hussein (a.s) from the greed and lust for power portrayed by Yazid and his soldiers. Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya organized various activities to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (as):
10 DAYS OF REFORMATION
Adhering to the COVID19 protocols, Bilal Kenya conducted a 10 day majalis in Bilal Hall Mombasa and its 15 centers, 20 FM radio programs both for ladies and gents and social Media broadcast with Sheikh Ali Saidi Samojah, Ahmed Sagaf, Sayyedah Zena and Mubalighat Ruiya Salim to shed light on the tragedy of Karbala. The main theme for this year’s Muharram was “Karbala – The Message of Reformation.”
The lectures, in Kiswahili, were uploaded to the Mission’s YouTube Channel and links circulated on different WhatsApp groups in East and Central Africa.
The 10 days of daily majalis for women conducted in the Bilal Hall had a daily average attendance of 30 whereas the evening majaalis for the gents had 60. This was in observance of the meeting capacity set by the Kenya Interfaith Council, COVID19 steering committee.
ASHURA MARCH ACROSS BILAL CENTRES AND MOMBASA TOWN
Bilal Kenya Centers in the rural villages and Mombasa Town held processions to commemorate the maqtal of Imam Hussein (a.s) and all the martyrs of Karbala. The believers in the villages marched with strict observance to COVID-19 protocols while in Mombasa the Mission organized P.A systems with truck which moved around the Island, delivering the message of Karbala as well as distributing drinking water and flyers containing the message on the tragedy of Karbala.
