The Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya organized Milad celebrations to mark the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (SAWW) at the Ahlul Bait Centre, Shimoni and Al-Ridha Centre, Mtongwe on 24th October 2021.
Other activities conducted were:
- Lectures by different scholars were delivered.
- Livestream production of events on digital platforms.
- ‘Unity Week’ program on Sauti ya Pwani FM radio.
- Topics discussed were: Prophet Muhammad (SAWW) as the symbol of unity, teachings of the Prophet Muhamad (SAWW) and the legitimacy of celebrating Milad un Nabi.
OBJECTIVES:
- To support unity amongst Muslims in all zones.
- Strengthen and propagate Islam as per the teachings of the Holy Prophet and Ahlul Bayt (as)
ATTENDANCE:
Participates at both Ahlul Bayt Centre, Shimoni and Al-Ridha Islamic Complex, Mtongwe came from Msambweni Zone. Attendees included: students and scholars from different madaris, local community members and their leaders. The estimated number of people for both maulid was 450. The event was conducted with strict adherence to Covid-19 guidelines.
MEDIA COVERAGE:
The Bilal Kenya’s Media Department in coordination with Tabligh department covered the events live on digital platforms i.e. Youtube and Facebook. The role of the media team was to spread the message of Unity to a global audience. In addition, Sauti ya Pwani Radio, also broadcast the Milad program held in Ahlul Bayt Centre, Shimoni.
MEDIA STATISTICS:
On Facebook the total viewership of both events so far is 694 views with a total engagement of 268. The views on Youtube are standing at 370.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Unity and bringing the Muslim Ummah together is a noble objective. There was a positive feedback regarding the two events both online and from people present at Ahlul Bayt Centre and Al-Ridha Islamic Complex, Mtongwe. Some of the recommendations received include:
- Holding similar events in other zones.
- Observation of wafat and wiladat of Ahlul Bayt (as) in a similar way.
- Hold more intra- faith events and forums, in order to promote unity.
