REF: EB/NL/32/22-23 DATE: 6th July 2022
Nairobi Jaffery Academy (NJA) has become a member of the Council of International Schools (CIS), a membership organization for international schools worldwide. It is a global membership community working collaboratively to shape international education. CIS offers a range of services to schools and higher education institutions providing international recognition with a focus on the development of students as global citizens.
NJA underwent a rigorous process to become CIS members by demonstrating its commitment to provide high quality international education for students to pursue their lives as global citizens. The membership process involved evaluation of NJA’s policies and practices and a week-long virtual visit by CIS evaluator with key stakeholders at NJA.

NJA is one of the 11 schools in Kenya and the only community school in the East African Jamaat schools, which now form part of the elite CIS community representing 123 countries. This membership means that NJA can now pursue CIS International Accreditation, the quality and rigor of which is globally recognized. This would enable NJA students’ transcripts to be recognized in universities globally. NJA will embark on this journey in the coming months in collaboration with the CIS team and with their support.
Ms. Sudha Govindswamy, the associate director at CIS School Support and Evaluation, commended the school to have clear and well-defined leadership structure that competently guides the strategic and day-to-day operations of the school. She also applauded the school on its deep-rooted commitment to internationalism and intercultural learning with a strong culture of care and respect for students.

The Education Board of Africa Federation extends its heartiest congratulations to the SAAJ Nairobi, Nairobi Jaffery Education Board and Nairobi Jaffery Academy Leadership on their achievement. We urge them to share their experiences and learnings with other community schools to enable them to reach these milestones.
