Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya, with the support provided by our generous donors, launched a computer lab at Imam Al Ridha Islamic Complex in Mtongwe. Presiding at the launch, together with the community, was the Mission’s HRO, Sis. Maimuna Mohamed who challenged the community members to take full control of the project by admitting the youths at the institution. The purpose of setting up this lab is to accommodate the youth in Mtongwe and training them in computer applications, course development and other technology related aspects that would positively impact their chances of employment and improve their standard of living in the otherwise radicalized Mtongwe Village where high unemployment, crime and drug abuse is rife.

The modern High-tech computer lab will support the youths of Mtongwe Centre and nearby area to acquire IT skills that will positively impact their employment opportunities. The lab currently can admit up to 15 students who study from morning to noon. The lab will also act as a hub for online madrasa classes that will enable the students as well as mubaligheen to access higher religious education from global online archives.

Shk. Musa Shali, Bilal Kenya Tableegh programs lead has embarked on preparation of online content in Kiswahili where students will have access in better understanding of Islam. The computer lab will provide access to all youths in the village irrespective of their religious background. This will also provide the youths an opportunity to meet the centre mubaligheen to discuss religious questions after the computer classes.

The Mission sincerely appreciates the continued support from our donors and well-wishers in elevating the knowledge of our communities.
