The Archives Section of Africa Federation is pleased to announce its first ever – THE ZANZIBAR HISTORICAL EXPEDITION Insha’Allah to be held in Zanzibar in cooperation with Kuwwatul Islam and Hujjatul Islam Jamaats of Zanzibar, from Thursday 8th December to Sunday, 11th December 2022.

The Expedition is open to both genders of our youth fraternity from all member Jamaats under Africa Federation aged between 16 – 20 years.
The primary objective of this Expedition is to generate interest and raise awareness of the rich Khoja history among the youth from our Jamaats, Zanzibar has been chosen for this first Expedition.
The Expedition shall be focused towards exploring and learning the historical background of the first migration of Khojas to Zanzibar Island, how they struggled and developed into a strong community in religious, cultural and social aspects of their life.
This Expedition will include a tour around stone town, the religious facilities (Mosques, Imambarghas, Mehfils etc.) and sightseeing of historical sights of Zanzibar as well as of the Khoja rich heritage including meeting people from different walks of life. There will also be workshops and history-related fun activities. We are trying to facilitate for some historian speakers for the workshop session.
The accommodation (separate for boys and girls) will be at Tamani Villas in Matemwe (one of the Villas seen above) – a beach resort overlooking the Indian Ocean, approx. 45 Kms (1.15 hrs) from Stone Town. The Villas have private swimming pools and other amenities. A private beach area is also available.
The total cost per participant is approx. US$350.00, the same has been subsidized by Africa Federation and thus, participants from our member Jamaats shall be required to contribute a nominal participation fee of US$100.00.
The participation fee includes the following:
- 3 nights’ accommodation at Tamani Villas in Zanzibar – Thursday 8th to Saturday 10th December 2022 (on sharing basis).
- Transport by Ferry Boat from Dar to Zanzibar and return.
- Local transport in Zanzibar, meals, sightseeing and workshop materials.
This Expedition visit to Zanzibar will accommodate maximum of 30 participants (15 boys and 15 girls) on FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS. The deadline for registration is 15th November 2022.
Participants from Jamaats outside Dar es Salaam shall be required to arrange for their own transport to Dar es Salaam to arrive by Wednesday, 7th December 2022.
