Technology In Early Childhood Education:
Computer Tablets Distribution Report
The Pre-primary Unit in the 14 Bilal Centres aims at providing quality education to learners from a young age. Utilization of the new technology in the classroom has become a day-to-day learning method for the young generation. Young learners are in a position to quickly see, observe and learn from what is in their environment. Therefore, the wide range of learning resources includes the use of tablets in the classroom.
Our teachers are well trained to impart knowledge to the young generation with the use of new technology. This also being a requirement under the new CBC curriculum. The competency-based curriculum (CBC) is the new education system introduced in Kenya which delivers learning and evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of learners.
With the generous support provided by our kind donors, we were able to distribute 60 tablets among Pre-primary Unit in 12 Bilal Kenya Centres. Our teachers are devoted to ensuring that learning becomes more interactive especially through actively engaging the students. Having a wide range of learning content, acquisition of knowledge has become more fun for students through provision of an engaging environment.

DISTRIBUTION:
The tablets were distributed in 12 Pre-primary Units as below:
CENTRE | NO. OF STUDENTS | NO. OF TABLETS |
Shimoni | 61 | 6 |
Kichakamkwaju | 50 | 5 |
Burani | 61 | 7 |
Bahakanda | 62 | 6 |
Moyeni | 67 | 6 |
Samburu | 89 | 6 |
Chengoni | 65 | 6 |
Mwasafu | 25 | 3 |
Nzavoni | 16 | 3 |
Kilungu | 5 | 2 |
Masongaleni | 13 | 3 |
Since most of the learners are still learning basic number and letter recognition, they were excited and inquisitive to use the devices.
Given the high intake of children in some of our pre-primary units, we are committed to acquiring more resources to bring down the tablet to children ratio and ensure each child has an equal opportunity to learn through this new technology.

The Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya appreciates the generous support and assistance received from various donors to ensure a successful run of this project.
