The Africa Federation Capacity Building Group was privileged to be invited by the AFED Archives Section for their program – THE ZANZIBAR HISTORICAL EXPEDITION – Chalo Jangbar 2022 which was held in Zanzibar from Thursday 8th December to Sunday 11th December 2022.
The primary objective of this Expedition organized by the Archives Section was to generate interest and raise awareness of the rich Khoja history among the youth from our Jamaats and thus, Zanzibar was chosen for this first Expedition. The accommodation for the group was at Tamani Villas.
The CBG Board Chairman Br. Shabbirhussein Khalfan joined the team in Zanzibar and facilitated a session for the youth which comprised of 25 participants (11 boys and 14 girls) from Arusha, Dar es Salaam, Mombasa and Morogoro.
Br. Shabbirhussein kicked-started the session on Friday night on the 9th of December by sharing tips with the participants on public speaking and presentation skills as they presented their works on different personalities and events in early Khoja history.
On Saturday 10th December 2022, a workshop was held on Communications which also highlighted topics as the uniqueness of the identity as a Khoja, the past, present and future of Khojas and the norms and cultures of the Khoja heritage.
This was then followed by interesting activities.
On behalf of the Capacity Building Group of AFED, we extend our appreciation to the Archives Section for inviting CBG to the Chalo Jangbar Zanzibar Expedition and reaching out to the youths from different parts of Africa.
We also wish to acknowledge the Africa Federation Secretariat for their encouragement, cooperation and financial support, enabling us to be a part of such training workshops regularly.
Lastly, we would like to appreciate all the youths who participated in the training program. We are grateful for vibrant energy brought to the session making it a success.
