The Central Bilal Board (CBB) has appointed Alhaj Gulamabbas Habib of Nairobi, an ex-Burundi resident as the Coordinator with Bilal Bujumbura Committee, he visited Bujumbura, from February 17th to February 25th, 2025. The visit involved discussions with Jamaat members on various subjects, including the current system of operations and administration of the Bilal Centres. The purpose of the formation of the new Bilal Committee, is primarily to plan for the expansion and enhancement of tabligh activities and educational programs across several centers.
The Bilal Committee of Bujumbura was officially formed; its members include; Alhaj Hurali Fazal (Chairman), Alhaj Irshad Mohammed Manji (Secretary), Alhaj Gulam Raza Shadik Ali (Treasurer), Alhaj Ahmed Hussain Agha (Committee member), Alhaj Zuher Jetha (Committee member), Alhaj Salim Somji (Committee member) and Naznin bai Jiwan Rajan (Committee member), the Committee will actively start their work to oversee and manage the ongoing works at the centres after the holy month of Ramadhan.
The Committee will provide regular updates on the various initiatives, initial focus will be on centers in Minago, Rukago, Kinama, and Bunyezi. Alhaj Zuher Jetha and Alhaj Salim Somji have kindly accepted to carry out the assessment and oversee operations at these centres.
An important highlight of the visit was the ongoing classes for ladies at the Kinama center, which currently serves 25 young girls and 30 women. These classes are currently overseen by Nazneen Bai Jiwan, there is a critical need for qualified teachers to enhance the quality of education. The suggestion has been made for the Central Bilal Board to send an Aalima to support the teaching of Fiqh Masael and assist in teachers’ training development.
A suggestion was also made for a Muallim/Sheikh to visit during the months of Muharram and Safar to conduct Tabligh work, recite Majalises, and teach at the centers. This will also provide an opportunity to assess the effectiveness of teaching and help the instructors improve their delivery.
The Bilal Committee also discussed various matters in connection with the qualifications and responsibilities of Muallims and Sheikhs and on methods of measuring performance of the centres and assistance to improve the standards of operations.
The Bilal Committee of Bujumbura expressed gratitude for the continued support from the Central Bilal Board (CBB) and assured to provide further updates on the centres and other tabligh activities.
