On 4th February 2025, the AFED Housing Development Board Chairman, Alhaj Akil Hirji, accompanied by the project coordinator, Br. Mohamed Moledina, visited Tanga Jamaat. The visit was organized in response to a request from Tanga Jamaat Chairman, Alhaj Sameer Naushad Bandali.
During the visit, it was observed that the Imambargha had developed cracks in the roof causing leakage that required urgent attention to prevent from further damage to the property. Additionally, several other maintenance requirements were noted, including complete replacement of the entire roof, cracks in the beams, plastering, kitchen repairs, some plumbing and electrical works.
In response to the urgency of the situation, the AFED Chairman Amine bhai Nassor and the AFED office bearers requested Housing Board to take immediate action. A team of workers from Dar es Salaam have been dispatched to Tanga yesterday 9th February 2025. The renovation work of the Masjid and Imambargha has been scheduled to commence today, 10th February 2025, with the aim of completing all necessary repairs before the beginning of Mahe Ramadhan. This will ensure that Mahe Ramadhan programs can be conducted in a safe and conducive environment.
It is important that all the Jamaats centres should be in good condition so as to provide a safe and comfortable environment for the members to perform their ibadaats.
Contributing towards the renovation of a Masjid and Imambargha is an act of Thawabe Ja’ariyah (continuous reward). We appeal to our community members and the Tanga diaspora to donate generously towards this noble cause.
The total estimated cost for the renovations and associated work is USD 30,000.
In addition to the renovation costs above, we are also seeking contributions for twelve (12) air conditioning units and three (3) projectors for the Masjid, Gents Imambargha and Ladies Imambargha.
We pray for the successful completion of the renovation works of the Tanga Masjid and Imambargha, before the holy month of Ramadhan, Inshallah.
