What a fine present, Alhamdullilah by the grace of Allah (SWT), the Africa Federation in collaboration with SANITA MERALI Trust of the United Kingdom is pleased to announce the following scheme in a form of a grant for the AFED Madina Residency deposits.

  • 5 Units (3BHK) – 50% of the deposit equals to US$15,000 each.

  • 3 Units (4BHK) – 50% of the deposit equals to US$20,000 each.

  • 2 Units (3BHK) – 100% of the deposit equals to US$30,000 each.

This is the first time in the history of Africa Federation that such a grant towards a Housing Project has been received. The Grant Scheme is only for those families who are facing financial challenges for the deposit but are able to pay monthly rentals. Those members who wish to apply for the above grant are required to submit a letter elucidating for the need for grant when called for the interview.

We quote below a Verse from the Holy Qur’an on the importance of Charity, striving to make a positive impact in the lives of the deserving people.

"Those who in charity spend of their wealth (in Allah’s way) by night and by day, in secret and in public, shall have their reward with their Lord: on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve" (Holy Qur’an Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:274).

The Africa Federation Office Bearers and Trustees wish to record their appreciation to Sanita Merali Trust of the United Kingdom for offering the grant to support our community members. This support will be a great boost for the 10 deserving families who shall benefit from this scheme.

Applications Forms for the Project was opened from 5th July 2024 to 16th September 2024 which was then extended to 30th September 2024 following requests from our community members; similarly, the introduction of the Grant Scheme. A total of 198 application forms were submitted to AFED by the deadline of the 30th September 2024.

The Madina Residency consists of 83 apartments and the project was designed after the Housing Board Survey that indicated the housing demand for Upanga, Dar es salaam was 88 units.  However, due to the ongoing demolition of old buildings by the government, the demand for apartments in our community has drastically increased. The Housing Board is therefore pursuing to purchase two potential plots to rescue the situation.

Appointment of the Allocation Committee

The Africa Federation Housing Board Chairman Alhaj Akil Hirji appointed the Allocation Committee of Madina Residency to conduct the entire process of allocation. The Committee consists of members who possess good experience and having served in different fields in the community, and in social services. We are hopeful that the Committee will undertake proper and fair decision-making processes at all times, and in line with the guidelines provided by the Housing Development Board of Africa Federation.
