MILAADUN NABI 2024
On the auspicious occasion of the birth of the Holy Prophet Mohamed Mustafa (saww), milaad functions were held for all communities served by Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya. This report focuses on the functions held in Mombasa, Mtongwe and Kilungu.
Milaad at Husseini Masjid in Mombasa
On the morning of Saturday the 21st of September 2024, a Miladun Nabi program was held at Husseini Masjid in Mombasa and attracted 350 mu’mineen. Quran recitation was followed by a series of qasidas. These included Arabic and Kiswahili recitations by students from Madrassa Zainul Abeidin and other individuals. The congregation stood in unison to recite ‘Ya Nabi Salam alaika’ and the masjid resonated with a sense of unity and devotion.
Sheikh Ali Musa then delivered a powerful majlis, highlighting the Prophet as a great blessing from Allah who distinguished between right and wrong. He emphasized the importance of studying the life of the Prophet and previous peoples, and reflected on the unity of the Muslim Ummah through shared faith, the Quran, and the Prophet. Sheikh Musa also touched on the significance of mosques and madrassas as centers of learning, and the Prophet’s encouragement of self-sufficiency through trades. The majlis concluded with a reminder of the Prophet’s lasting legacy and our responsibility to spread awareness about his life and teachings.
Salaah was recited in Jama’ah and a take-away tabarruk of meat pilaw, fruit and water was distributed to the devotees.
Milaad at Ar-Rahma Centre in Kilungu
A joint function for Masongaleni, Nzavoni and Kilungu communities was held at the Ar-Rahma Centre in Kilungu on the 6th of October. Over 400 people attended. The lively and diverse program was held outdoors and included various recitations and a majlis by Sheikh Juma Shughuli which centred on the youth and included discussions regarding the challenging task of navigating the social media landscape. The mission and community members came together to serve a lunch of meat pilaw to all those present at the celebration.
Milaad at Ar-Ridha Centre in Mtongwe
The milaad at the Ar-Ridha Centre on the 6th of October brought together communities from Burani, Shimoni, Kichaka and Mtongwe. Sunni brethren also joined in for the celebration. The program ended with a football match and the awarding of a trophy to the winning team.
