BMMT - Eid Ul Adha Report 1445AH 2024

We give thanks to Allah SWT for the grace of Eid ul-Adha (the Festival of Sacrifice) this year 1445 A.H, corresponding to the year 2024. This is one of the most important festivals for Muslim communities worldwide. It commemorates Prophet Ibrahim (a.s)’s willingness to sacrifice his only son, Prophet Ismail (a.s), at Allah SWT's command. However, before he could fulfill the command, Allah SWT replaced Prophet Ismail (a.s) with a ram or goat, according to some sources. This story, mentioned in the Holy Qur'an, remains a significant lesson in obedience within Islam.

The festival falls on the 10th of Dhul Hijjah each year, when Muslims globally join their fellow believers in Mecca for the Hajj pilgrimage to celebrate this day with prayers and the sacrifice of animals (goats, sheep, cattle, or camels). They distribute the meat to family, relatives, friends and the needy.

In this year 1445 A.H (2024), we successfully obtained a total of 820 goats from various donors and distributed meat to over 3,333 households throughout Bilal Muslim Mission Tanzania (BMMT) centers, private centers, and other needy individuals.
