CBG Conducts Successful Mentor Development Programme in Arusha

Mentorship is a transformative force that extends far beyond the transfer of knowledge—it is the foundation upon which thriving communities are built. A well-guided mentoring relationship fosters confidence, resilience, and a sense of purpose, empowering individuals to contribute meaningfully to their societies. Recognizing the critical role of mentorship, the Africa Federation Capacity Building Board (CBG) continues to nurture this practice through its Mentor Development Programme (MDP), equipping individuals with the tools to uplift and guide others effectively.

On the 22nd and 23rd of February 2025, CBG facilitated an impactful MDP session hosted by Arusha Jamaat bringing together 11 dedicated participants keen to enhance their mentoring capabilities. Under the guidance of Alhaj Shabbirhussein Khalfan and supported by MDP Lead Neelambai Jiwa and CBG Board Member and Facilitator Mumtaz bai Ladak the program provided an immersive and interactive learning experience designed to strengthen the skills necessary for effective mentorship. Through a series of engaging discussions, practical exercises, and real-world applications, participants gained valuable insights into fostering meaningful mentor-mentee relationships.

A key focus of the program was Egan’s Skilled Helper Model, a structured approach that enables mentors to guide their mentees through a process of self-reflection, goal-setting, and problem-solving. By mastering these essential skills, the participants are now better equipped to serve as compassionate and effective mentors, creating a ripple effect of positive influence within their communities.

Mentoring is not just about guiding someone through a challenge—it is about instilling self-belief, providing a safe space for growth, and cultivating a culture of continuous learning. Strong mentorship leads to stronger individuals, who in turn contribute to stronger communities. Through structured training and hands-on application, the MDP ensures that mentors can support, inspire, and uplift those around them, fostering sustainable personal and communal development.

The Arusha MDP session underscored CBG’s commitment to developing mentorship networks within various Jamaats, ensuring that knowledge-sharing and personal development remain at the heart of community progress. By investing in mentorship, we invest in the future, shaping a generation of leaders who will drive meaningful change through guidance and service.

CBG extends its deepest gratitude to the Office Bearers of Africa Federation and Arusha Jamaat for their invaluable support in making this session a success. CBG is equally grateful to the Africa Federation Secretariat for its continuous guidance and cooperation, which enables the consistent implementation of such impactful training programs.

Finally, we commend the participants who dedicated their time and effort to this transformative journey. Their commitment to personal growth and community service exemplifies the true spirit of mentorship, and we look forward to witnessing the positive change they will bring to those around them.
