CBG Empowers Students at the Pre-University Camp - 2024

The Pre-University Camp, spearheaded by the Africa Federation’s Tabligh Board (AFTab), has become a cornerstone initiative aimed at preparing young students for the exciting yet demanding journey of university life. This year’s camp, held from August 3rd to 11th, 2024, at Seascape Hotel in Dar es Salaam, offered an immersive experience that bridged academic preparation with personal growth. With a focus on nurturing both the intellectual and emotional readiness of participants, the camp addressed the unique challenges faced by pre-university students as they transition into higher education.

In collaboration with the Capacity Building Group (CBG), Education Board (EB), and Africa Youth Network (AYN), the program incorporated a variety of activities, from educational and skills-based sessions to team-building exercises and spiritual enrichment. This comprehensive approach ensured that students not only gained the academic tools needed for success but also developed key life skills to help thrive in the diverse university environment.

University life is often regarded as a transformative phase for young adults, a time when they not only acquire academic knowledge but also build essential life skills. As youth transition into this new chapter, they face a wide array of challenges, from mastering self-expression to understanding their own personality dynamics. Recognizing this pivotal moment in the lives of young students, the Africa Federation (AFED) Capacity Building Group (CBG) stepped in to deliver focused sessions during the Pre-University Camp 2024, thoughtfully designed to empower participants as they prepare to embark on their university journeys.

The CBG sessions on Self-Awareness and Public Speaking left a lasting impression on the students. Through a deeper understanding of their personality traits, participants gained valuable insights into their behavior, enhancing their ability to interact meaningfully with others. This self-awareness was not just about recognizing strengths but also about learning to manage weaknesses, an essential skill as they prepare for diverse university environments.

The public speaking workshops brought forth a new level of confidence among the attendees. The facilitators nurtured a supportive approach whereby students could step out of their comfort zones, transforming nervousness into self-confidence. The impact was clear: by the end of the camp, participants felt more comfortable and poised in their ability to communicate effectively—a critical asset not just for academic presentations but for life beyond university.

Overall, the CBG workshops provided more than just practical skills; they inspired personal growth, encouraging the young participants to embrace the opportunities and challenges ahead with clarity, confidence, and a strengthened sense of self.

Our deep appreciation goes to the participants for their active roles and full participation in the program. Our thanks also to the facilitators from CBG and the volunteers. Last but not the least to the Africa Federation office bearers, secretariat staff and Africa Federation Tabligh Board (AFTAB) for this commendable camp for the development of our youth and preparing them to face the new challenges ahead in their lives.
