In December 2023, the landscape of education and technology saw a groundbreaking advancement with the commencement of construction on the 30,000 sq. ft. JFF-UGI-sponsored Data Sciences and AI Center of Excellence at the main campus of Karachi University. The Ground breaking Ceremony was attended by JFF Trustees, Mohamed Taki and Sadique Jaffer, UGI Executive Director Dr Hasnain Walji, IBA Executive Director Dr Akber Zaidi, and AFED Chairman Alhaj Amine Nassor.
Scheduled for completion in 2026, the 30,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility will operate as a department under the IBA Computer Science School, offering cutting-edge resources and programs in data science and artificial intelligence.
At the Supreme Council meeting in November, JFF Chairman Mr. Mohamed Taki Jaffer extended a remarkable opportunity to AFED, inviting them to send students from Africa to benefit from this unparalleled educational initiative. This collaboration aims to empower African students with advanced skills in one of the most sought-after fields, setting a new standard for global partnerships in education and technology.
Alhaj Zuhair Jaffer, Hon. Secretary of AFED, will personally spearhead this initiative from AFED’s side, working closely with the Education and Economic Boards to ensure its successful implementation.
The office bearers of Africa Federation take this opportunity to sincerely thank the Jaffer Family Foundation of New York for their invaluable support and unwavering commitment to AFED’s mission. JFF has been a cornerstone of our success, offering not only consistent encouragement but also generously sponsoring various initiatives. We look forward to continuing this fruitful partnership and exploring even more collaborations in the future to further our shared goals.
