Press Release - AFED Chairman attends the Inauguration of Mehfile Zahra in Comoros Island

The Khoja Shia Ithna Asheri community of Comoros, celebrated the auspicious occasion of the inauguration of Mehfile Zahra in Comoros Island, marking the first-ever Mehfil of the Comoros Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri Association. 


The Mehfil has been kindly donated by the family of Rajabali Alimamod of Antananarivo, Madagascar.   


The occasion was graced by the presence of Africa Federation (AFED) Chairman, Alhaj Amine Nassor, along with the President of the World Federation, Alhaj Safdar Jaffer and AFED Nominated Councillor, Alhaj Navazaly Molou. The dignitaries included members of the family of Rajabali Alimamod.



The inaugural ceremony which was held on 21st December 2024 coinciding with the eve of the blessed Wiladat of Sayyedahh Fatima Zahra (SA), was a significant milestone for the community, reflecting their dedication to spiritual and communal growth. The event was also graced by the presence of the community members of Comoros. 


In his address, the AFED Chairman Amine Nassor congratulated the Comoros Khoja Association Chairman Alhaj Zahir Mamod Nassir Houssen and his office bearers for their commendable efforts in strengthening religious and community bonds through facilities for religious activities such as the one being inaugurated. He reiterated AFED’s commitment to supporting such initiatives that enhance the spiritual and social wellbeing of Khoja communities across Africa and in the Indian Ocean Islands. 


The occasion marks a new chapter for the Khoja community in Comoros, a landmark for the religious infrastructure and laying a strong foundation for the future generations.




We pray to Allah (SWT) to grant every success to the Association in their endeavors in ensuring that the Mehfile Zahra operates efficiently for the benefit of all members of the Khoja Association in Comoros. We pray for the tawfeeqat of all our community members and for their safety and good health, Aameen.
