We are pleased to announce the successful inauguration of the Punjani Charitable Trust Advanced Digital Learning Centre for Cybersecurity in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania - a pivotal initiative to advance education and technology within our community.
Africa Federation (AFED) has been instrumental in fostering collaboration and support for this transformative initiative. Through strategic partnerships with educational institutions and charitable trusts like Punjani Charitable Trust, AFED continues to champion education in emerging technologies such as cybersecurity.
The inauguration ceremony, held on 25thJune 2024, was graced by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Joshua Mwangasa, in charge of cybersecurity issues from the police headquarters in Tanzania. In his address, ACP Mwangasa emphasized the significance of enhancing cybersecurity capabilities across Tanzania, highlighting the role of such centres in safeguarding digital infrastructure and fostering a secure environment for all.
Mr. Mohamed Kazim Sheriff, Chairman of the Education Board of Africa Federation (AFED), also addressed the audience. He highlighted the importance of expanding educational opportunities in cybersecurity and commended the Punjani Charitable Trust for its commitment to this cause.
One of the key highlights of the event was the announcement of scholarships to the community students. These scholarships aim to empower aspiring cybersecurity professionals with essential skills and knowledge to address the evolving challenges in digital security. Mohamed Kazim stressed the importance of encouraging youth fraternity in our community to take advantage of these facilities which are at our door steps.
Mr. Mirjean Pribhai, Director of JRIIT and a board member of Punjani Charitable Trust, expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts that led to the establishment of the Advanced Digital Learning Centre. He underscored the importance of equipping the workforce with cybersecurity skills to combat the growing threat landscape effectively.
