The Tanga Jamaat Mosque and Imambargha Attains a New Facelift

Secretariat

According to our Chairman, Amine bhai Nassor’s plan to support our Jamaats in Africa to maintain the Mosque, Imambargha and Madressah in good standard of maintenance to preserve the Khoja identity and to give a good reflection of the general public of our religious institutions regardless of the size of the Jamaat, the renovation of the Tanga Mosque and Imambargha which is being undertaken by the AFED Housing Development Board is nearing completion. Only minor external works remains, which are expected to be completed by the 15th of Ramadhan, Insha’allah.

The Imambargha has been completely renovated with new paint, a gypsum ceiling, upgraded lighting, fans, switches, and a new main electrical board. Additionally, new air conditioning units have been installed, and the projectors in the Masjid and Imambargha have been replaced.

The Mosque has undergone significant improvements, including the repainting of walls, upgrading of the lighting system, and the installation of new air conditioning units. On 27th February 2025, Housing Board Chairman Akilbhai Hirji met with the Tanga Jamaat Office Bearers and the Managing Committee to officially hand over the renovated facilities. Akil Bhai emphasized on regular maintenance and upkeep to ensure good and clean environment for Momineen to perform Ibad’at comfortably.

Recognizing the importance we give to both spiritual and physical well-being, the playground has also been upgraded from a simple badminton court to a multi-purpose court for both pickleball and badminton.  This initiative is part of our broader vision to encourage an active and healthy lifestyle among our members. Inshallah, similar facilities will be introduced in other Jamaats in the future. Floodlights have also been added to enable extended use.

The Madressa building has been repainted, and external lighting has been added to brighten the area. The kitchen has been upgraded from a traditional firewood usage to a modern cooking facility using the LPG, which helps in environmental conservation.

Further, the mortuary area has been refurbished with proper placement of essential equipment to ensure efficient operability.

Additional facilities have been introduced, including a dedicated washroom for elderly ladies. Security has been bolstered with the replacement of old lights and addition of compound security lights, as well as provisions of CCTV system installation for security.

We express our sincere gratitude to the Africa Federation for the financial support and to all the generous donors who contributed towards the refurbishment of the Tanga Mosque, Imambargha, Madressah and the playground.

The refurbishment of the exterior is still ongoing, and we kindly request your generous donations.  Your support will play a vital role in ensuring that our facilities provide a comfortable and welcoming environment for our community.

We would also like to express our heartfelt appreciation to Br. Sameer Bandali, Chairman of Tanga KSI Jamaat and his team for their unwavering support and cooperation during the process of the renovations.
