Hawzatul Bilal, the new name that it was given upon re- establishment, was started in 2008 with 15 students and 3 teachers. Presently it has 40 students and 5 teachers.
9 out of 13 students from the first batch succeeded to join Al Qaim Hawza in Tanga to pursue their studies.
The students who graduated to study at Hauzatul Qaim (as) in Tanga were ceremoniously awarded their certificates on 25th November 2011 at the Temeke complex by Shiekh Abdillahi Nasser of Mombasa, Kenya, who presided as the guest of honour.
The Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanzania and the Teachers and Administrators of Hawzatul Bilal wish them best of luck in their journey ahead.
The function was graced by the Principal of Al Mustafa theological University Syed Shahid, The Chairman and Hon Secretary of AFED Alhaj Anwer Dharamsi and Alhaj Aunali Khalfan, The Chairman of Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanzania Alhaj Shabbir Somji, Shiekh Jalala, Alhaj Hajisaheb, Alhaj Mehboob Somji, The Chairlady of LMC, Representative from The Culture Centre of the Islamic Republic of Iran Agha Pirani, Representative from Hauzatul Qaim(as) Shiekh Ammar, the Chairman of Bilal Ikwiriri Centre Shiekh Haji Mageni, Syed Murtaza Akhtar Rizvi and many others.
The program included the recitation from the holy Quran, Qasida by the graduants, and an elaborative address by The Chairman of BMMTZ Alhaj Shabbir Somji advising the graduates “Msisahau jamii yenu mlipotoka”( do not forget your communities of origin). He urged them to go back to their community and serve them and also advised “Maisha ya mjini yasiwavutie…” (City life should not distract you). The Administrator of Bilal Campus, Sister Siddika Manji reminded the students of their moral responsibility to attain the highest levels in education to able to reach the status of our present scholars like Shiekh Abdillahi Nasser and Syed Aidarus.
The guest of Honour Shiekh Abdillahi Nasser in his emotional address remembered Syed Akhtar Rizvi and his great achievements to spread the message of Ahlul Baiyt (as) to the indigenous Africans for which the gathering of the day was a witness. Shiekh then solemnly embraced Syed Murtaza Rizvi in remembrance of his late father for his services to Bilal and in spreading the Madha’ab of Ahlul Baiyt (as) far and wide in Africa.
The dignitaries then attended the Friday prayers led by Shiekh Hemed Jalala.
