“The likeness of my Ahlulbayt amongst my Ummah (followers) is similar to Noah’s Ark. Those who embarked on it were rescued and those who rejected it perished”. The Holy Prophet (S.A.W.W.)
Alhaj Anwarali Dharamsi, Chairman of the Federation of KSI Jamaats of Africa message to the community upon the sighting of new moon of Muharram – 1434 A.H.
The message of Imam Hussain (A.S.) is echoing beyond the plains of Kerbala;
Imam’s call on the day of Ashura – “Hal Min Nasirin Yansurna Hal Min Mugheesin Yugheesuna” – Is there any one to help me? This was not a call just for the day of Ashura in 61 AH and to the people of that time, but it is a call for all of us today as well as for the future generations to come.
This is the will Imam wrote to his brother; Muhammad Hanafiya which summarizes the sacred mission of Imam Hussain (A.S.), the grandson of the Holy Prophet of Islam:
Imam Hussain (A.S.) explains the mission of his sacrifice in his own words: “I have taken this stand not out of arrogance or pride, neither out of mischief or injustice. I have risen to seek reform in the community of my grandfather. I would like to bid good, forbid evil, and follow the tradition of my grandfather and my father ‘Ali bin Abi Talib.”
On the Day of Ashura, the 10th of Muharram 61 A.H. in the desert of Kerbala, Iraq it was Imam Hussain (A.S.), his family and his loyal companions all numbering to 72 stood up against the oppressors and fought bravely in a decisive battle against a large and wicked army of tyrant Yazid son of Mu’awiya ibn Abu Sufyan, tragically they were brutally killed.
Imam Hussain (A.S.) and his faithful companions sacrificed their lives and were martyred to uphold human rights, justice, truth and saved Islam and the of the Ummah of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.W.) from despotic and the usurper Yazid.
As long as there is oppression and injustice in this world, the divine mission of Imam Hussain (A.S.), to fight injustice and oppression will be alive.
It is therefore our duty as Muslims and the followers of Ahlulbayt (A.S.) to continue with the struggle, the spirit and keeping the torch of Kerbala alight up to the Day of Judgment.
The epic of Kerbala is full of events which one can take lessons from each and every stage of our lives. Every turn and every event of Kerbala has countless lessons for all of us, and therefore it is our religious and moral obligations to reflect upon them and to put them into practice in our lives.
In this month of mourning, let us all join hands in prayers to Allah (S.W.T.) for His grace and mercy and in performing Azadari of Sayyidul Sh’uhada, Imam Hussain (A.S.) and the 72 martyrs of Kerbala in the most befitting manner to bring about the spiritual awakening in our community.
Let us all remember the oppressed people of the world wherever they are and pray for freedom from oppression, for their safety, peace and wellbeing.
We send our condolences to the Imam of our time, Al Hujjah Al Mahdi (ATFS) on this sad occasion.
Dr. Rajendra Prasad writes, “The sacrifice of Imam Hussain (A) is not limited to one country, or nation, but it is the hereditary state of the brotherhood of all mankind.”
“Though Imam Hussain (A) gave his life almost 1300 years ago, but his indestructible soul rules the hearts of people even today.”
“Jab waqt ke sailaab mein beh jayegi duniya
Kucch bhi na bachega, na zar o maal rahega
Duniya yeh na hogi, na koi naam rahega
Shabbir ba har haal tera nam rahega”
