Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya in conjunction with Kwale District Eye Centre organized an eye camp on Tuesday 22nd October 2013 at Dumbule Primary School in Kinango to assist patients who were in need of these services.
People of different ages with various eye problems gathered early in the morning carrying rays of hope.
85 people seen, 55 issued with eye drops and 24 issued with reading glasses. Pupils from the school identified with the help of the teachers were also examined. Some were issued with eye drops and others were referred to KDEC for refraction for distance glasses. One person brought to KDEC for cataract surgery.
“My name is Celina Mwanzombo. My problem is that I can’t read small letters but for now I am grateful because I have been given spectacles that will help me read well”.
“Today is a happy day for the people in Dumbule village, in Kwale County because of the eye camp that was brought by two organizations namely Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya and Kwale District Eye Centre. The eye treatment was free of charge and many people came for the treatment. They got spectacles for the patients with reading problems, medicine and those recommended.” Alfani – Kwale District Eye Centre
The Mission will continue to organize the eye camps, cases of surgery will be taken to kwale eye centre in Magandia. It has been noticed that the main eye problem in this place is cataract. Patients with these problems are taken for surgery and it’s done for free of charge.
