REPORT FROM BILAL MWANZA BRANCH:
Our Sunni Muslim brothers and sisters, the City Kadhi, the Regional Bakwata Sheikh, Alhaj Salum Hassan Fereji, the Regional Bakwata Chairman, Sheikh Idrisaa Omar Shariff and National Chairman for Peace Committee Sheikh Hassan Kabeke and other Juqusuta leaders were among the participants in the Juloos.
Black flags and Banners portraying different messages in Kiswahili language relating to the event were carried and displayed in the procession for the general public about the great sacrifices of Imam Hussein (AS) and his faithful companions for the sake of Islam and humanity at large. Imam Hussein (AS), his family members and companions all numbering to 72 were mercilessly and brutally martyred by the forces of Yazid Ibn Muawiya, son of Abu Sufiyan on the plains of Karbala, Iraq in 61 AH. (Day of Ashoora – 10th Muharram)
Poems for the occasion prepared by Bilal students, Marsias and Nauhas in Kiswahili were recited during the Procession which also conveyed the message of Imam Hussein (AS): “Death with dignity is better than life with humility”.
The tragic event of Karbala is a lesson to Muslim Ummah, we need to contemplate so that we derive fruitful lessons from Karbala, and we must stand united against tyranny, oppression, arrogance, domination and injustice.
All efforts should be geared for unity of all Muslims around the world regardless of region, background or ethnicity. The need for Muslim unity now is greater than at any other time.
“Hold fast to the rope of Allah all together, and do not separate”. (Holy Qur’an; Surah Al ‘Imran, 3:103)
“Let there arise from among you a band of people who should invite to righteousness, enjoin good and forbid evil; such are the ones who shall be successful”. (Holy Qur’a; Surah Al ‘Imran, 3:104)
The Regional Bakwata Sheikh, Alhaj Salum Hassan Fereji and Sheikh Hashim Ramadhan emphasized on UNITY, he said “Muslims should unite, keeping aside petty differences”.
National Chairman for Peace Committee, Sheikh Hassan Kabeke appreciated the Shia community for undertaking several humanitarian projects for the underprivileged people especially the recent blood donation drive in the name of Imam Hussein (AS), organized throughout the country, a noble gesture that will save many lives of Tanzanians.
The Bilal Mwanza Branch is also planning to commemorate the Wafat of the Holy Prophet (SAWW) on 28th Safar 1435 AH in an open ground in Mwanza to convey similar messages and to invigorate the importance of commemorating these events of the history in Islam and to reach out to the Muslim community to build bridges and inter-faith relationships.
We convey heartfelt condolences to the Imam of our time, Al Hujjah Al Mahdi (ATFS) and to all the followers of Ahlulbayt (AS) on the sad occasion of the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS) who was brutally and mercilessly killed in the plains of Karbala, Iraq in 61 AH along with his family members and the faithful companions.
We are thankful to all the donors and well-wishers for their generous donations and support making it possible to carry out the Azaáh-e-Hussein (AS) during this Muharram. We pray for their long life, good health and for every success in their endeavors, Ameen.
