BILAL MUSLIM MISSION OF TANZANIA ORGANISES INTERFAITH IFTAR PROGRAM IN DAR ES SALAAM
The Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanzania in pursuing one of its objectives of strengthening unity and brotherhood amongst all faiths in Tanzania organized an interfaith Iftar programme at Delhi Darbar in Dar es Salaam on 16th Ramadhan 1436 A.H / 3rd July ’2015. The event was graced by the Acting Chief Mufti of Tanzania, Alhaj Sheikh Abubakar Zubeir, who was the Guest of Honour at this function.
The evening program started with a melodious recitation of verses of the Holy Qur’an by Qari from Iranian Culture Center. This was followed by a welcome note from the CEO of the Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanzania where on behalf of the Federation of KSI Jamaats of Africa and Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanzania he congratulated the acting Chief Mufti for assuming leadership of the Muslims in Tanzania, and prayed for his success. He stressed the importance of good working relationships and cooperation that existed amongst the Muslim communities in Tanzania and an opportunity was taken also to remember the late Chief Mufti, Alhaj Sheikh Shaban Simba who passed away in Dar es Salaam about two months ago.
In response, the Acting Chief Mufti of Tanzania expressed his gratitude for the honour and highlighted the need for peace and unity in the country, and elsewhere.
He commended the Shiá community for working together in harmony with the Islamic Institution – BAKWATA for the benefit of the Muslim Ummah and for Tanzanians as a whole; he further stated that the doors were open for our Shi’a brothers to advice and to share their views with the Institution and the leadership.
Imams and Sheikhs from several Mosques in Dar es Salaam were invited for the Interfaith Iftar. This was a good opportunity for the Muslims to meet and interact with each other and build stronger relationships, these are unique occasions that Allah (swt) has bestowed upon the Muslims, being one of the many blessings of the Holy Month of Ramadhan.
It was a pleasant evening following a brief program; Salaatul Maghrib (evening prayers) was prayed in congregation, led by Sheikh Jalala and followed by Iftar. The program was well attended by more than 150 dignitaries and invitees from different Mosques and Institutions. Each of them was given a gift of the Holy Qurán with translation in Kiswahili and a prayer mat.
The Interfaith program created a friendly environment of discussion and sharing views with the presence of Imams from different Mosques and different personalities that included Alhaj Ahmed Daya, the past Hon. Treasurer of the World Federation, Alhaj Kumail Manji, the Secretary General of the World Federation, Alhaj Aunali Khalfan, the Hon.
