FACILITATOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME HELD IN
ARUSHA, TANZANIA – 28th to 30th SEPTEMBER 2018
The Africa Federation Capacity Building Group (CBG) from its inception has been developing capacities of community members within Africa.
A journey that began 10 years ago with the first Leadership Development Programme in Africa at Nairobi in 2008, the LDP Alumni have gone from milestone to milestone, strength to strength to eventually reach the stage of Facilitation Development.
It is indeed with blessing of Almighty Allah (SWT) that CBG was privileged to host the first ever Facilitator Development programme (FDP) in Arusha on the 28th to 30th September 2018 with 14 participants: 5 each from Nairobi and Dar Es Salaam, 2 from Madagascar, 1 each from Arusha and Reunion Jamaats, embarking on this stimulating and dynamic programme. The programme was facilitated by Br. Shabbirhussein Khalfan, Sr. Shama Dewji and Sr. Mumtaz Ladak.
FDP aims at increasing the facilitator pool by having a number of facilitators within major Jamaats to eventually run their own programs and to back the current facilitators. The now new facilitators will shadow the core facilitators to build on and improve on the skills learnt and eventually with experience to facilitate on their own.
The key focus of the programme is to equip participants with skills in front end facilitation with a deeper understanding of team dynamics and how to manage them and the relevance of Emotional Intelligence to facilitation.

By the end of 3 days participants would have:
- Grasped the difference between teaching, training and facilitation.
- Understood how adults learn and develop.
- Understood the application of group dynamics.
- Have an opportunity to apply their learning to the facilitation scenario and skills to their work and lifes
- Know the differences of content and process and its application.
- Be equipped with understanding a variety of process tolls used by facilitators.
- Know the do’s and don’ts of facilitation.
The three-day programme concluded with a closing ceremony attended by dignitaries from Arusha Jamaat including AF councilors.

We wish to thank all the participants for attending and contributing positively during the session and warmly welcome them on a remarkable journey of facilitation.
Our sincere appreciation to KSI Jamaat of Arusha for their support and Bushbuck Safaris for accommodating participants from Reunion and Madagascar and providing transport for participants to attend the 10th day Majalis of Shuhade Karbala in Arusha.
We would also like to acknowledge the Africa Federation Office Bearers and Secretariat for their support, cooperation and guidance.
