
The Africa Federation Capacity Building Group capitulated on its recent trip to Madagascar by conducting a Master class for the LDP Alumni and a Mentor development program on completion of the Leadership Development Program.
The Master class facilitated by Br. Shabbirhussein Khalfan and Sr. Shama Dewji, covered Emotional intelligence, Transactional analysis and Drama Triangle, highlighting skills for effective communication.
The session ran on the night of 11th May 2018 from 8:30 p.m. at the Madressah’s Conference room, for a total of 25 participants.


On the 12th and 13th May 2018, a Mentor Development program was organized based on the Egan’s Skilled Helper Model, which is applicable across cultures for a variety of helping situations, emphasizing on change and leading to values outcome. The Egan model aims at helping participants solve problems more effectively and develop under-used or unused resources as opportunities more fully. It also serves to help partakers become better and help themselves and to develop ancient-oriented prevention mentality.
“It comforted me in my coaching knowledge and skills and showed me a different path on mentoring: There is a difference between both actually. Coaching will also be about mindset shift.”
The participants will practice these skills acquired and will then go through an evaluation process, after which they will serve in various Jamaats as mentors.

CBG LEAD VISITS COMMUNITY SCHOOL AND RASUL AL AKRAM SCHOOL IN MADAGASCAR
The Capacity Building Group Lead, Br. Shabbirhussein Khalfan had the opportunity to visit the local Community School and the School run under the auspices of Rasul Al Akram, in Antananarivo.
During his visit, he conducted a self-awareness session for the students at Housseini Memorial School and an empowering teambuilding session for the teachers at Madrasatul Akram school. The Housseini Memorial School launched under the Late Chairman of KSIJ Antananarivo, Alhaj Mounisbhai (May Allah rest his soul in peace. Ameen), is fairly new at the moment; however, their efforts are commendable.

We also wish to accord our gratitude to the Chairman of Regional Council of Madagascar, Sheikh Haniphe Akbaraly and the Chairman of Antananarivo Jamaat, Alhaj Anil Djouma for facilitating the visit to the local schools and to Alhaj Mouradbhai Kadaya, the head of school for accompanying Br. Shabbir during the tour. Our appreciation also to both the school administration for accommodating this visit.
