The Africa Federation Secretariat is pleased to announce the appointment of Alhaj Shiraz P. Walji of Dar-es-Salaam as Head of the Africa Federation Census Bureau; this is the first appointment of its kind given the great importance attached to Census.
The necessity of obtaining reliable statistics for the Census to create a complete database for planning and making informed decisions for the provision of services based on the socio-economic needs of the community in Africa cannot be overemphasized.
At the 80th AFED Supreme Council Session concluded in Dar-es-Salaam on Saturday, 28th April 2018, it was clearly felt that there is a need to have a proper team in place to collect data of the Community members in Africa which will enable the AFED Secretariat, its Boards as well as local Jamaat lacking such data, to effectively chart out the current and future requirements of our community.
Shiraz bhai has served the community and other institutions in various capacities; he is the past President of Kampala and Dar-es-Salaam Jamaats. A founder member of Tanzania Asian Development Association (TADA) in Dar Es Salaam. He is a member of finance committee of the Confederation of Tanzania Industries (CIT). Currently, he is the Vice Chairman of JIBA International and an Interim Chairman of JIBA Tanzania. Shiraz bhai has great passion in manufacturing and industry.
His vast experience pertaining to the Census and its administration and processes will surely benefit from the outcome of this important project that he will be undertaking for the community.
To enable him to gather and consolidate the required information and statistics, he will be contacting the Hon. Secretaries of the Jamaats under Africa Federation within the next few days to roll out this exercise.
Shiraz bhai will form a team who will work under his guidance and assist him in this important task.
