Africa Federation is grateful to the family of Alhaj Gulamabbas Dewji (GD) for the donation of a Plot for the development of the housing project. The Plot is located on Band Street (corner of Libya Street), Dar es Salaam comprising of approx 378 Sq. M.
Gulam Bhai’s donation has instilled renewed impetus towards the AFED Housing Project strategy. The handing over of the plot took place on 17th January, 2016.
There is a big demand of housing in Dar es Salaam for the members of our constituent Jamaats; Dar es Salaam tops the list.
THE WORLD FEDERATION OF KSIMC AND THE SANITA MERALI TRUST OF U.K. SUPPORTS AFRICA FEDERATION HOUSING PROJECT IN DAR ES SALAAM
AFED is grateful to the World Federation of KSIMC and The Sanita Merali Trust of the United Kingdom who have committed financial support for the AFED Housing Project. This support has been possible through the good office and untiring efforts of Alhaj Ahmed Daya, the World Federation Executive Councillor from the United Kingdom to whom we are deeply indebted.
With the donation of the plot from GD family, and having secured partial financial support from the above two Institutions, the Economic and Housing Development Board of the Africa Federation will embark on the plan in the next few weeks.
This Project will be on a “Rent-To-Own” Housing Scheme, mainly for the first time home owners, low income earning community members from the Constituent Jamaats under Africa Federation. The World Federation and The Sanita Merali Trust of UK have consented to the proposal of this Housing Scheme, being the first of its type introduced by Africa Federation to be launched as soon as the formalities are completed and building permit is obtained.
The plan is to put up a ten storey building comprising of 20 residential flats and shops on ground floor, and basement for water storage tanks, generator etc.
We are thankful to the family of Alhaj Gulamabbas Dewji (GD), the World Federation of KSIMC, The Sanita Merali Trust of U.K. and Alhaj Ahmed Daya for their invaluable support which has played a pivotal role in advancing towards the Housing strategy.
The Secretariat also wishes to thank the Economic & Housing Development Board Chairman and his team for their efforts in preparation of this Project, and the AFED Trustees for their cooperation and support.
We shall keep the Community informed on the progress of this Project as it develops. We look forward for the kind support and cooperation from our community members and from the well wishers towards this and other projects of the Africa Federation.
