FREE EYE CAMP AT PANGANI ORGANIZED BY
THE BILAL MUSLIM MISSION OF TANZANIA – JULY 2017
The Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanzania in collaboration with BETA Charitable Trust of Essex, U.K, and with the support of other Well-Wishers held a free eye and health camp at Pangani, in Tanga region from 7th July to 9th July 2017.
Pangani River meets the Indian Ocean – a very scenic area. There is a ferry which takes you to the other side of Pangani and the road leads to Sadaani Game Park and to Bagamoyo.
The camp was held at Pangani Primary School and the surgeries were carried out at the Pangani General Hospital. The Hon. Member of Parliament (MP) of Pangani Hon. Jumaa Hamidu Aweso was also present during the eye camp.
A total number of 3175 persons from Pangani and its neighboring villages were screened during the three days Program.
SUMMARY STATISTICS:
Professor Karim Manji from MUHAS conducted a children’s medical camp during the duration of the Camp where 100 children were treated for different diseases and 20 children were circumcised.
The Bilal team made up of doctors, nurses, technicians and volunteers were engaged in serving the people who turned out at the camp site.

Our deep appreciation goes to Tanzania Road Haulage (1980) Ltd. – TRH for the transport arrangements, the entire team of doctors, nurses, volunteers, regional and District Government Authorities and medical officers and all those who in one way or the other supported and facilitated the successful conduct of the Camp. Our special thanks to Dr. Jumaa of Pangani Hospital and his able team in surgery section and ward nurses for their excellent work.
