BILAL TANZANIA MWANZA BRANCH ORGANIZES BLOOD DRIVE TO COMMEMORATE THE GREAT MARTYRDOM OF IMAM HUSSAIN (A.S.)
Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanzania – Mwanza Branch has been in the forefront every year in organizing Blood Donation drive to commemorate the Ashura – Imam Hussain (A.S.) supreme sacrifice for the religion of Islam and for Humanity. The tragic event took place on the plains of Karbala, Iraq in 61 AH. The uprising of Imam Hussain (A.S.) enlightened the darkened era during the illegitimate rule of tyrant Yazid Ibn Muawiyah Ibn Abi Sufiyan over the Muslim Ummah. Imam along with his family and his faithful companions were martyred mercilessly defending Islam, Truth, Justice, Human Rights and Human Values.

Our salutations to the valiant companions of Imam Hussain (A.S.) in Karbala numbering to 72 who were unshaken, fearless and resolute spiritually, mentally and physically in defending the religion of Islam and the family of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAWW) in Karbala, Iraq.
On Thursday, 22nd October 2015, the Mwanza Bilal Branch organized a Blood Donation drive in keeping with their annual Ashura program.
Donors came long way from different Bilal Centres around Mwanza. Out of about 200 donors who gathered at Bilal Centre in Mwanza city, 124 people managed to donate blood and others could not due different health condition reasons. 124 units of blood collected were handed over to the Lake Zone Blood Bank officials; it will be used for people who require blood that saves many lives. Many times blood is in short supply due to lack of donors and awareness amongst public at large.
It was a touching and somber moment when three children two boys aged 3 and 8 years and a girl aged 3 years also turned up for donating blood for their love towards Imam Hussain (A.S.) children who were martyred in Karbala. Due to under age they could not donate but all three of them were gifted with educational items.
We thank all the donors for their support and donation of blood that will save many lives in the lake region.
Inshaállah we are planning to organize similar blood camp during the commemoration of the death anniversary of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAWW) on 28th Safar 1437 AH, this time the plan is to cover wider area so that many more units of blood can be available to the Lake Zone Blood Bank.
