The Chairman of Africa Federation Shabirbhai Najafi visited the Dar es Salaam development projects on 25th March 2019 accompanied by AFED office bearers, AFED Trustee, AFED Housing Board and delegation from Dar es Salaam Jamaat, Alhaj Azimbhai Dewji and Jamaat Trustee, Alhaj Mohamedraza Dewji. Similarly, on 21st May 2019 a visit to witness the project was made by the Chairman Shabirbhai accompanied by Vice Chairman Aunalibhai Khalfan, Housing Board Chairman Akilbhai Hirji, Vice Chair Shakerabai Dhanani and Amira Project donor and funds solicitor, Alhaj Ahmedbhai Daya.
Amira Apartments
It was pleasing to witness the Amira apartment progressing well on schedule, during the visit on 25th March the initial setup of the block walling had started. Simultaneously, the block work of 2ndand 3rd apartments are at completion stage whilst also the 7th floor slab being prepared for concreting in coming two weeks.
The AFED Vice Chairman Aunalibhai Khalfan, the AFED Trustee Anwaralibhai Dharamsi, the President of DSM Jamaat Azimbhai Dewji, DSM Trustee Mohamedrazabhai Dewji and the main donor, Ahmedbhai Daya witnessed the progress duing the visit. The achievements attained in a short period of time whilst the quality of workmanship is being maintained to the required standards are commendable.
The sample apartments will be ready on about the end of June 2019 and an open day will be organised to allow the applicants to view the apartments before final allocation takes place.
Simultaneously, the Allocation Committee for Amira Apartments have started interviews with the applicants. The housing board Chairman Akilbhai Hirji and Alhaj Ahmedbhai Daya met with the allocation committee during the interview session on 29th May 2019, Ahmedbhai was impressed and appreciative of the immense efforts being put into this work by the committee.
The Allocation Committee comprises of members from KSI Jamaat of Dar es Salaam and the AFED Housing Development Board; they are Gulambhai Kermali, Sajjadbhai Dharamsi, Shakerabai Dhanani, Zakiyabai Khamisa, and Zulfikarbhai Alimohammed.
The Housing Board Chairman sincerely appreciates the allocation committee for the commendable work done of interviewing the applicants. Over 95% of the applicants have been interviewed, despite being the holy month of Ramadhan the allocation committee gave their valuable time after mosque hours to complete the interview process as soon as possible.
Umoja Commercial Complex – Nyerere Road, Dar es Salaam
During the AFED Chairman’s visit on Monday, 25th March the Umoja phase 2 project was at the stage of basement floor concreting. The progress so far has been good, currently the ground floor slab is completed and the steel for the project are being delivered to the site to start steel works from the rear side of the showroom.
The quality of the work and the equipment at the site provides satisfaction of the workmanship and the progress so far achieved. Constant visits and site meetings are important factors in ensuring the Contractor including the Sub-Contractors follow the specifications and BQs as required, and specified.
The Chairman and Vice Chairman of AFED witnessed the delivery of the steel structures and also checked the warehouses of phase 1. The delegation was pleased with the progress of phase 2 construction and good maintenance of the phase 1 warehouses.
