The Chairman of Africa Federation (AFED), Alhaj Shabir Najafi is pleased to announce the appointment of Alhaj Akil Hirji as Chairman of the Africa Federation Housing Development Board for the new term 2019-2022.
Akilbhai has served AFED in this role since 2014, during which time he has successfully managed several capital projects. During this tenure, he has shown great enthusiasm and commitment. He has effectively led the Board towards the aims and objectives and in fulfilling the vision of the Housing Development of the Africa Federation.
In addition, Akil bhai’s track record of almost 17 years of experience in the construction field which he obtained through undertaking many projects (community, commercial and private), role has been a valuable part of the success of the AFED Housing Board.
Akilbhai has a remarkable drive, ambition and commitment to serve the Community at large; we pray that he continues with same motivation to elevate the Board to greater heights of success in this new term.
Currently the Housing Development Board has several on-going projects; both, commercial income generating and community-based housing projects in Dar Es Salaam, Tanga, Nairobi, Madagascar and Malawi.
Brief Profile of Akil Hirji:
Akil was born in Zanzibar and completed his secondary education in Dar-es-Salaam. A successful businessman, Akilbhai is currently involved in a number of family business ventures in Dar-es-salaam. He is married and has two children.
Akilbhai’s community, social and voluntary services spans almost 35 years. His enthusiasm and commitment in serving the Community has remained unwavering. His passion has always been in supporting the institution in its endeavours towards economical upliftment of the members of the community through facilitating housing and encouraging self-sustainability. He is also actively involved in supporting social and professional services for the underprivileged people both inside and outside the community.
