Alhamdulillah, the Umoja Phase II project, a commercial project of the Africa Federation was awarded to the contractor, M/s. Super Construction Company Ltd. on 15th January 2019. The mobilization was completed and the work commenced on 1st February 2019 and the construction works continues according with the timelines agreed upon.
Notably, in two months’ time the foundation was completed along with basement floor slab. The work is ongoing around the clock to overcome the rainy season.
The Chairman and members of the AFED Housing Board make regular visits to the site and hold the monthly meeting with consultants and contractor to ensure the project is carried out safely and meets the required quality and standards in accordance with the specifications of the project, and compliance with the work permits and regulations.
One of the important elements in any construction project
management is for the client and the consultants to hold regular meetings and
physical inspections at every stage, the initial stages are crucial for project
management whereby the quality and standards are ensured to avoid complaints or
sub-standard conditions at later stages.
Recently, the project consultants along with AFED Housing Board Chairman, Akil
Hirji visited TRH Depot in Kurasini to check the steel structure components and
its accessories where these are stored. The steel structures etc. were imported
for the Phase II project and will be transported to the site once ground floor
slab is casted, expected by early May 2019.
The steel structure components and accessories are seen below.
The Chairman of Africa Federation, Alhaj Shabir Najafi visited the site on 26th March 2019 and witnessed the basement floor-slab concreting. He was accompanied by Akil Hirji, AFED Housing Board Chairman. Shabir bhai had a brief discussion with the contractor, Mr Jayesh Patel at the site and expressed his satisfaction with the quality and progress. He stressed on “on-time” completion and “close-out” as per contract.
The Phase II project is divided into two stages whereby first stage is the completion of the steel structure and stage two is the finishing of the project. Stage 1 is expected to be completed by end of August 2019, Insha’allah.
We pray for successful and on-time completion of the above project, this
will provide Africa Federation with the much needed income to sustain its
various activities.
