Youths are the future of tomorrow, and more-so, are ‘The Present’. The difference between our world today and our world tomorrow rests with them; we must have the ambition and courage to change old ideologies and practices so that we may direct their potential toward good ends.
Empowering young people helps transform lives, build stronger communities and a brighter future. With this vision in the horizon, CBG has endeavored to specially design a program for the youths that is stimulating, insightful and challenging; engaging in a range of experiential, reflective and interactive exercises. The sessions are run by a team of experienced facilitators and continually revised and upgraded to meet the evolving challenges posed by the future.
To motivate and inspire these young people, The Capacity Building Group of Africa Federation in collaboration with KSI Jamaat of Arusha organized a weekend programme in Arusha on 24th and 25th August 2019 on youth development (YDP). The programme was facilitated by Br. Shabbirhussein Khalfan, Sr. Shama Dewji, Sr. Mumtaz Ladak and Developmental facilitator, Sr. Zainab Sheriff.
The 2-day workshop was attended by 22 youth of the community of both genders, these participants demonstrated high level of interest and enthusiasm which made the sessions even more interesting and productive.
The two days training course has been a journey of discovery, rediscovery and transformation for participants to explore depths and take a step out of their comfort zone and leave the old ”you” behind the doors. It is also an essential sounding board for our communities where youths are encouraged to voice their thoughts; their opinions are valued and given insight on how this can impact their futures. Adults as well as communities benefit from the fresh perspective, optimism, and enthusiasm youth bring to the table. All in all, it is a rewarding experience for everyone involved.
We are confident all those who attended the 2-day session have an immense wealth of knowledge to ponder over and will endeavor to share their learning experiences with their brothers and sisters. It does not matter how slow you go as long as the direction is right.
Participants’ Feedback
“I benefited most in learning about my attitude as this is what I think and how I think. And our attitudes at times are the obstacles in reaching towards our goals and achieving success.”
“It was a blessing having this session. I have learnt a lot about myself and my personality from the facilitators through stories of their own experiences and activities.”
“The workshop was insightful and we discussed various issues faced today by the youths.”
“It’s all in the mind – even impossible says I’m possible. In these 2 days I got out of my comfort zone by challenging myself and overcoming my fears. The thing I won’t forget is Why should we pretend to be what we are not, Why can’t we be real and not put on masks. So, let us change, moreover let us be the change and take the first step”
The Capacity Building Board of AFED, extends its appreciation to KSI Jamaat of Arusha for facilitating the workshop and reaching out to the youths in the society. We are also grateful to the Jamaat for availing the venue and the amenities for the training session as well as handling the logistics in collaboration with YDC of Arusha and all the volunteers.
We thank all the
parents, AFED Councillors, Managing Committee of Arusha Jamaats and LDP Alumni
who honored the youths with their presence at the certification and closing
ceremony.
We also wish to acknowledge the Africa Federation Secretariat for their
encouragement, cooperation and financial support, enabling us to organize such
training workshops regularly.
Lastly, a big THANK YOU to all the youths who participated in this two-day
workshop. We appreciate your time, efforts and vibrant energy brought to this
event, making it a success.
