AFRICA FEDERATION
WOMEN BOARD

The Africa Federation Women Board organized the following Programs for women in the Community.
Generate Your business (GYB)
At a time when the public and the large-scale enterprise sector’s capabilities to create new jobs fall short of the need for productive and fruitful employment, it is clear that most future jobs will be created in the small-scale enterprises.
AFWB held their first event in Mombasa in February where by 17 women attended a two-day training to nurture business ideas. The Program was facilitated by Br. Shabbirhussein Khalfan and Sis Shama Dewji.
The training used an active, problem-centered learning approach which explored individual entrepreneurial potential, desire and needs through, for example, short cases and graphic illustrations. A similar program will be held in the near future in Arusha, Nairobi and Dar-es- Salaam Jamaats.

ISLAM COVERS MENTAL WELL-BEING

The initiative by the Africa Federation Women Board, in collaboration with Sister Sarah Gulamhusein (Registered Psychologist), explored the concept of what it means to attain mental wellbeing through the lives of our Islamic role models. Islam is a comprehensive and universal religion that covers every possible aspect of life, yet this concept was one that has not been sufficiently researched and discussed before in our Jamaats.

Therefore, through this collaboration, the idea of wellbeing was introduced by examining the life of our beloved Bibi Fatema (a.s.) as the leader of the women of the worlds. To this end, we delved into three aspects of her life; including her parental attachments, her impeccable knowledge and her emphasis on social justice – all of which are vital towards realizing and maintaining a positive and healthy mental wellbeing.
The Africa Federation Women Board is thankful to all the facilitators who conducted this program and is working on organizing more programs for the well being of our ladies and to empower them with different skills.
